Just curious.. is your computer on for longer hours after you had joined mylot compared to before?
Yesterday night, I was so happy that I reached my first dollar in mylot, I went to tell my uncle about it! Then my uncle said jokingly that the electrical bills I had consumed after using the computer for HOURS is more than $1!

A light, a computer and the internet connection do not consume much power and it is less than 1 or 2 dollars a month. I use the computer for 20 hours a day (for business purpose besides mylot) and the power in terms of paymentmay be less than 4 dollars.
Generally in India, people use non-fluorescent bulbs, use geysers which causes the power supply bills to soar. Sometimes the members of the family do not put off the lights when it is not required. Any motor driven gadgets, equipment consume more power.

i think thats a little exaggerated. although you use the computer more lately than your usual use before, i don't think it'll cost more. as far as i know computer does not consume so much electricity. but still don't know exactly about it. besides, are you the only who's using the computer? maybe you should take a look at your bill you can see the consumption rates there.

Lol, my uncle meant it as a joke though. But it just struck me that I had actually used the computer longer than before after I had started trying to make money online. As far as I'm concern, the bills is not paid by me, but I'm using my uncle's computer more than ever for the past few days and only me. Just felt guilty somehow.
Good to know that computer doesn't comsume much electricity! It certainly makes me feel better heehee.

We don't ever turn our computer off. It is true that we use it a lot (someone is often using it from 5 am to 5:30 am and then from 7am to about 12am (most of the day)) for one reason or another. We play the radio on it, watch movies and TV shows on it, play computer games, and most often work on it doing a wide range of online money making options. It hasn't caused an issue with the electricity bill...the computer just doesn't use that much electricity.

When you are not using them, you should not only turn off things like your computer, television, dvd player, etc. but also unplug them.
These things use electricity even when turned off (basically in a stand-by mode).
You should be amazed at how this will affect your electric bill each month!
We have gotten power strips for all of our electronic equipment and just turn off the power strip instead of unplugging and replugging everything.
Hope this helps!

I stay online in discussions more since joinging mylot. Other discussion boards did not keep me as interested. My computer is on all the time. I use it a lot for most daily hours and during the night as well.
The remark your uncle made to you was not very nice. Joking or not. He got you to thinking and kind of burst you bubble, so to speak.
He could have encouraged you. Besides you would be on the computer doing other things that do not pay you for using your computer and have nothing to help with anything concerning bills or having pocket money.
Do you have a limited amount of hours or pay by the hour? If not then I wouldn't worry about it. Most people have unlimited usuage for the online time. if you do not you may wish to check into this.
You can also discover other places to go and earn more money when you are in here chating to other people. This makes you more maoney for the time spent here. And the money you get here, if you post enough to get a least $1 a day then you have pocket money.
