Do you memorize your phone numbers?

Isn't it funny how many people don't know their own phone number or the phone numbers of their friends and family? How many times have you heard someone stumble over their own number and heard them say " I don't call myself"? Do you have to resort to looking in your cell phone contacts to find your own number and those of others that you call frequently?

I am dreadful. I do know my home landline number but I don't have a clue about my cell phone. I have to ring it from home to get the number because I don't know how to find it on the phone either. I have a cell phone in the car too. Don't know that number either. I always tell people that it is because I never ring myself! Works for me.

What would you boys do without us organizational women anyway? It seems in the grand plan of things, we do compliment each other in many ways.

The first time when I come across someone who doesn't know his own phone number, I was surprised. His reason was there is no need to call home. Nowadays, I find it rather common with the advent of handphones. Personally, I stop memorizing phone numbers unless it is a number I have to call again and again.

In such cases, often, I will sms them my contact card assuming most are now using handphones. Otherwise calling back is what I do too.

Its a pain in the butt though to have to put someone on hold to look up a number in your cell phone. Usually I have to call them back, because I am afraid I will disconnect them.

i have been in that position before. of course, i do remember my house phone number. it's just my own cell phone number that i can't remember. it's only been a month since i've started using it. and only my hubby knows the number. i didn't even give my sister the number as it's not much use since i won't use it much unless i go out which is seldom. thus i got my hubby to save the number in the cell but i still can't remember. i just know that the number starts with 8, and that's about it. ehehe

I guess as long as you remember your home phone number at least, the cell isn't as important.

I do memorize my own number but I don't for somebody else number. I hardly know anyone else number because I always use my phone memory to know it. I only remember my own number, home number, fax number, and my husband number. The rest of my contact number is in my cell phone memory. If I lost my phone, I am doomed.

I try to keep my numbers in more than one place so that if something were to happen to my phone, I wouldn't be lost.

do what i did and email yourself your phone numbers that are in your cell or keep like doctors cards etc so you have their number in case something happens to your phone.. i got caught in the rain and even though my phone was in my purse it fried.. my hubby left his phone in his pants and even though i know i checked his pockets i washed it and fried his.. so you might wanna do that lol

I used to remember all phone numbers but now I am starting to lose my memory so it is not easy for me to do that anymore. I sometimes stumble on my own phone number and even my pin number as well. And I do know them both.

I know my own number, but i don't know my children's numbers, or my husbands new either. I have it all stored in my phone. i could not tell you their numbers to save my life. it's funny because we use to know everyone's number. we use to know the numbers to all of our friends and family. then with the ability to store numbers in our phones, we lost the ability to remember the numbers of those people we talk to every day.

Thats exactly why I posted this discussion, because now if you ask someone their number they'll ask you to hold while they look in their phone.

I'm one of those people that usually does not know my own phone numbar. I have a head for numbers and remember them well. For some reason I just stumble when asked my own phone number. I guess it's partly because I do not call home and partly the surprise of being asked and not expecting the question. My mind seems to go blank at times when asked a question out of the blue, and I'm not expecting it.

I know both my numbers but I too have been stumped from time to time when asked.

It is funny when someone ask you for your phone number and you have to stop and think what it is, could it be tht we dont' call home that much, so it isn't something we rattle off our heads like if we call a friend or family member. I know I almost always have to stop and think about what the numbers is, I programed it into my cell so that I just hit #2 when I want to call home. I call my friend sand family so often that it is automatic, and once in awhile I will be thinking of one and calling the other and will call the number automatic that I am thinking of, soem of us is getting old and our minds dont' work as good.

I always have trouble in remembering my phone numbers when I get a new one. I can tell nothing when my friends asked what my phone number is. Luckily, my cellphone can tell me, there is a keypad on one side of my cellphone, my phone information including my phone number will inform on the screen if I press this keypad.

I have had to memorize mine as it seems no matter what you are doing sooner or later you have to give your phone number. I have also memorized my social security number for the same reason. also my street address, these are things you usually have to give for many types of documents. It really is just so helpful altho to be safe I have all that info in my purse if I need to check on anything.
