Windows Vista...

So, many are hating this newer Operating System, while others are loving it. Another discussion sparked my curiosity. Why are there such mixed feelings on this OS??
I am personally on the side of loving it. I like the tabbed browsing, how I can use everyday language to search for programs and documents. How I can switch so easily between windows, and the overall performance of the system. Its almost completely hands free when it comes to maintenance!!
The only issue I've run into is having to go online and download newer drivers for some of my older hardware. This isn't really that big of a deal to me. I think the stuff downloads faster from an online source than a CD anyway.
So how do you feel about Vista, and why??

well I have tried vista I am completely disappointed. The 3D visual effects look good for some time but in the end it's performance which matters. I soon got fed up of the pop-ups (for sake of security) that are just too many and quite irritating. On performance side, its very slow. I was running it on 1GB ram system (though 512 mb is recommended) still it was very slow. And it has conflicts with most of the softwares (like VLC).
Infact now I have even left windows, and using ubuntu (linux) and its simply amazing. Its 3D effects are unmatchable even by vista (have a look at my desktop image) and still takes very less resources.

I haven't run into any issues with it being slow. I personally think its faster than anything I've used...but then again I've never used Linux(isn't that quite expensive?)

linux are free!!! for gods shake why do you talk about pcs when they only thing you know about them is how to turn them on????? the fastest thing you've run? guess again! it eats 500mb of your ram and 1gh of your procesor on it's own it's ok if you have like 4gb ram and 3.4 intel pentium quad but that's the minimum recquirmentes to reall "run" vista at the same speed as xp and compatibility god I am just not gonna mention that cause I'll say bad words and I don't want to and what about those **** "security" errors? and the worst thing? it's not any more secure than xp and by far less secure than linux!

I believe the main reason here is hardware compatibility. With the current number of computers very very few are fit to run Vista effectively. Since every body would like to try this new tech many are disappointed and like every news the negative one are given more exposure. I'm not into vista yet but when my PC is good enough I would definitely move up to it. Give it some more time every body would be using one and XP would silently leave the limelight.

I've heard of alot of people having trouble with the Vista program, that its a pain to fix if something happens. We bought a new computer a few months ago, and we didn't want one with vista, and almost all of the newer ones have it, but we did find one that still had windows XP, and we bought it. We haven't had any problems with it, its faster than the one we had, of course it still had Windows 2000 on it. But of course, everybody's different, and have different experiences with things.

the answer is simple:
people who use their pcs only to browse a couple of sites and just want to enjoy the graffics love vista
people who really DO use their pc understand that vista sucks in a 1000 ways so simple :P

Well, I really DO use my computer in many ways...possibly not the SAME ways as you, but I don't just surf the net and type if that's what you are referring to. And I am completely happy with the system.

Vista looks really good but it has a lot of issues. I have had blue screens for no apparent reason other than I decided to play a game. Internet Explorer crashes a LOT. I am hoping the latest round of Windows Updates fixed some of those issues, but am not banking on it.
My problem with hardware is not the drivers, but compatibility. Thank God I bought a new printer with my computer, I wasn't going to but there was a discount so it only cost about $25 with the laptop, for printer/scanner combo. If I hadn't bought that, I would no longer have a printer, as the old one is not compatible no matter what I do.
I also attempted to re-download games I had on my old computer, which I could do through the service I bought them from, only to find out I couldn't play them. Very irritating.

Vista is good. The graphics and effects are so cool. It has new features. When I first use Vista, it was some kind new to me. Quite different. But when I get to know how it works, I found out that's it's more user friendly than XP.
