we must stop importing oil from the middle east and start drilling in our own land.

If so, oil would become really cheap in the USA.
I'm not aware of the extent America's oil reserves, but if there's a huge reserve, it's worth it. Otherwise, its a waste of time and money.
I've heard many Americans say they should start drilling in their own land, but never of any results. Moreover, the prices have increased to $138 per barrel, and may even hit $150 next month.
The present statistics show that only 6% is America's share in oils.

i have never heard that we export oil to other countries. all i have heard of is that since the beginning of time, we have always been the importer of oil since the beginning of the industrial revolution.

Well it's a good plan but the environmentalists are always one step ahead of anyone who wants to drill here in the U.S.

environmentalists are stupid. let's see when we run out of gas and everybody has to walk to where they're going. lol.

America consumes more oil than any other country in the world. They are such a good strategist, they are aware that the international stock of oil will be depleted in a decade or so, hence they want to exhaust other's resources, and are keeping their stocks intact so that when it is inevitable the y would like to use it.

master plan my butt! i don't think that's a good idea at all. using someone's oil before ours is despicable. the truth of the matter is that we probably don't have that kind of reserve as the middle east nation has. we should accelerate the technology to make biofuels out of organic materials.

I totaly agree with you on drilling here. However, it is a political football that has been kicked around so much and we don't know where that ball is going to bounce. It's either the oil pollution issue or oil companies profits. I think we could work on the problem by bringing in Natural gas for part of the solution. We can fuel up all the big guzzlers such as buses, trucks, all govt vechicles, and power the utilities. We would need less oil so we would not have to import from our friends in the Mid East, and nat gas is less polluting that oil. It would also increase jobs, which is in great need at this time.
