Have you ever tried using ALL your might squeezing the last bit of toothpaste out onto your toothbrush.... and the next moment*poop* it dropped on the floor! What will you do if you had no new ones at home anymore?

Cut the tube open. Now that they are plastic and not that weird metal material anymore it's much easier to do that. You would be surprised about how much toothpaste is still stuck in there. Enough for one more brushing, maybe even two;)

Yes gwenns I have had this happen to me, lol. And to others in the house. I have been down to the last of the toothpaste and this has happened. I usually just brush my teeth with baking soda and use the trusty mouth wash. Scope is good with a minty taste. I then make sure I pick up toothpaste that day. MOst of the time this does not happen I usually have plenty of extra in the house. I go to the other batheroom and get some for mine. I have serveral different kinds of toothpaste in there for guest, not knowing what is any ones favorite. I have also thrown out the tube without ringing it down to the last drop only to find it's all I had. It's funny when I first read your post my daughter was on the phone and we were talking about putting toothpaste on sunburns.
