Do you eat Special K?

Last month there was a buy 2 get one free sale at my local grocery store plus another promotion plus I had a coupon and I ended up getting 4 boxes of Special K for about $0.50 each. Since it was so cheap and I'm dieting I figured I'd give it a try. At first I was super excited by the one that has berries and yogurt crunch pieces, really good. Then I opened the one with chocolate bits, real tiny bars of chocolate in my diet cereal? Dream come true right? Wrong. The chocolate is great but I find the flakes to have these like little bubbles of hard stuff, not cool. So over all I'm feeling a little 50/50 about this line. I was wondering what everyone else thought of Special K, diet cereal done right or cereal disaster?

I love Special K cereal and the chocolate delight one is my favorite. You are right that the chocolate isn't the best but what other cereal has chunks of chocolate in it and is a diet cereal. Who would have imagined?

So true, nobody else does that and espcially not for diet cereals. When I saw the box I had to look twice to make sure I wasn't imagining things, lol.

You got a great deal on those boxes! I haven't had the varieties you describe, but I thought the plain one was okay. I added fresh berries and some almonds to my bowl.

Yeah I was so excited, there were all kinds of sales that day and I ended up with almost $300 worth of groceries for $145. I bet adding the fresh berries and almonds taste a lot better than the boxed since the cereal just has the dried out fruit.

I'm surprised they don't have the other flavors there yet. They're new flavors so maybe give it some time and they'll start to offer it there too.

I don't mind special k, but I don't eat it all the time. I sometimes have it when I'm trying to watch my weight. They have some other stuff too, like little 90 calorie bars that I sometimes eat for breakfast or for snacks when I'm trying to cut back on calories. I like the stuff, but it's definitely not my favorite. There are a lot of other cereals that I would choose over special k.

I've tried those bars, another sale and I got the box for like $0.25. I didn't like it at all. I'd rather have a regular granola bar or rice cake.

Yes I eat those! But I only eat the "original" one in blue box. I have been quite happy with it but I never tried its other tastes, so I don't really know if they are good or bad.

I can't stand the original which is probly why I don't like the chocolate one too much. The chocolate one is just original with little mini bars of dark chocolate in it. The ones with berries are good though.

I love it and just finished a box of the red berry . I like the one with almonds too.It is a much better choice than many others , and the taste is pretty good i think for the most part.

That one is good. The almond one is my favorite, so yummy. I think I'll stick to just that one since I'm not liking the other flavors too much.

I really like Special K, it's one of my favorite cereals, but I had to give it up because it has too much sugar in it and not enough protein and fiber. I really like Go Lean regular flavor now, but cold cereal is pretty expensive, so I mostly just eat straight oatmeal.
I love the Special K with strawberries, but I've never tried the Chocolate Delight that you are talking about. I would like to try it sometime. So, if I get a coupon, I might indulge in it. I just wish I could only get a small box instead of a large one.

Go Lean is good, I like that one. I didn't realize that Special K had a lot of sugar. Oops... I've been feeding that to my mom who is diabetic. Oh and I totally agree, cold cereal is super expensive these days.

I like the original plain Special K cereal the best. I don't like any of their new flavors at all. You are right, the flakes seem different and I don't like that. Now my middle grandson, he's 6, he totally loves that Special K with berries and yogurt pieces. It's his favorite. And he also likes the kind with the chocolate pieces too. He can have them!! :-)

Special K is supposed to be a decent way to lose weight. From what I've heard, you have a bowl for breakfast, a bowl for lunch, and regular dinner. I agree with you--the one with the berries was really good, but the one with the chocolate was not so good. When I have Special K, I usually just stick to the plain one and add a few berries or apple slices on top.

As a rule I don't buy stuff that's on sale that I don't use already. I tried special K once and I think it sucks. There is no way I'd buy it even if it were that cheap. Those boxes would just be taking up space and gathering dust. Plus it would be $2 that have gone down the drain. I really prefer the much healthier muesli that is available. It tastes better and is not as processed as these packaged cereals are. You can make your own or get muesli that has been pre-blended. have it with yoghurt. Or have it with milk. Add fresh fruit as you like and you'll have a super healthy meal each time regardless of what's on sale.

That's such a good rule! I always get sucked in by sales and my cabinets are packed full of things I always buy for just in case because it's on sale and then never use or try and hate. I'll have to stop doing that, such a hard habit to break.
I think I tried muesli once and I didn't get it again because I couldn't find it at my regular store. I'll have to go back to the health food place, I'm quite tired of the not healthy "healthy" foods.

Hi i just started the special K challenge. I have now been doing it for 5 days. I think that EVERYTHING tasts delicious. You would too if all your used to eating for breakfast is eggs and toast. I find no problems with the ceral that i bought and i bought three differnt kinds. So far i have lost just about 6.5 pounds. You can do it if you really set your mind to it! Good luck!
