What is the big deal with women and the toilet seats? "put the toilet seat down when your done using it". they try and tell me "well it would be nice to be able to sit down and not be surprised when the seat is up and were touching cold porcelain". i look at you and i see to eyes embedded in the front of your skull...are you telling me that you are incapable of using them too look before you sit? Man rule one: your a big girl, learn how to work the toilet seat. you need it down, we need it up. you never hear us complaining that the seat is down? Seriously...why is this such a big deal? its really not hard to put the seat down before you sit? by the way...did you know you can click on pictures and comment on them just like you would a discussion? and i think it counts as a post for you too ^_^

It's just nice of the male to put it down. Would you want to fall in the toilet in the middle of the night? you would get browny points with the wife if you put it down and dont pee all over the seat

In our house we like the toilet seat down, because there are 3 woman and 1 man, so it is what the majority wants. Also if there is one girl and one guy, the guy sits down half the time, so the ratio is still on the toilet down side, but if there are more guys than girls then guys should have their way. I personally think it looks better, you never see pictures in magazines of toilets having the toilet seat up. Also if a guy really wanted to he could always pee with the seat down, just needing better aim.

Well, I never force any guy to put the toilet seat down after using it. It would be nice if they did that and save me the trouble of doing putting it down myself, but if not it's never a big deal for me. What troubles me is when I face a toilet with its seat up and I see little yellow water marks (I know you know what they are, yuck) which I wouldn't have seen if the toilet seat was down.

those little yellow marks wouldn't happen if the bathroom was kept clean. they make Lysol wipes to touch up your bathroom with between deep cleanings.

A silly women thing isn't it. But it's all about hygiene. Women do( pee ) thing sitting down, while the men do it standing up. When you do it sometimes some of your body water waste are spread all over it. We just don't like to seat on it that's why you need to put the toilet seat down.

fair enough...but what keeps you from putting it down yourself if it is left up...and why in the world do you need to complain about it?

*sighs* i guess i should respond since I'm the one who egged this one on. Any ways i simply say that yes the toilet seat should be down not only because of my concerns but also did you forget we have cats in the house. I know my cat and the other one love to jump on the toilet and possibly stick their head in. I'm thinking of their safety mostly because I'm sure the last thing we all want is a cat falling in and then us having to give them a bath after spreading nasty toilet germs everywhere. Thats my main reasoning, but yes alot of the posters i have to agree with some times you dont always want to flip a light on because when our tired the light irritates the eyes and blah blah but at the same time we dont wanna fall in and i'm sure you wouldnt either if say i was to remove the toilet seat *smirk* but honestly thers more than one reason useually behind the toilet seat thing, but i would say... do it for the kitty pweeese o.o

you didn't really egg it on...my ex, her mother and half a dozen other women besides you have complained about this before to varying degrees. im just trying to get an general understanding of why...cats not withstanding. of course im going to have to be honest...some of the responses im getting here are quite rediculus.

You've obviously never stumbled into the bathroom in the middle of the night and fallen in! Seriously, I think it's only a big deal if a woman needs something to gripe about. I grew up with brothers, so I've got a highly developed seat detector.

I'll raise my hand for this one. I was one of three daughters, but when I was married to my first husband, I woke up in the middle of the night, needing to go potty. Thinking he would always leave the seat down, imagine my surprise when I woke up IN the toilet. GGRRR!!!

again...it would have been helpful if you turned the light on so you could actually see what your doing

i agree with you that it is not hard at all to put down the toilet seat whenever i want to use the toilet... but that's just woman... we just don't see sometimes and we just sit straight away... and i hate it when my a** fall down on the toilet bowl... :-) that's why i requested my hubby to put it down again everytime after he uses the toilet... fortunately, he doesn't mind doing it for me even though he forgets once in a while... i think it is just woman's nature that we don't see and just sit assuming that the toilet seat is down especially when we are in the hurry... at least it is very true for me... interesting discussion... take care and have a nice day...

I personally find it gross to have to touch the toilet seat to pull it down. Especially when there are pubes and pee droplets on the rim. It's just gross. Women are dainty and clean so men should put the seat down for us! Afterall, it is most likely that the woman will be the one cleaning the toilet anyway so if you put the seat down every time we can call it a trade off.

Men stand, women sit when using the bathroom. If women could stand to use the bathroom it would not be a big issue of putting the seat up or down. Now remember this put the seat up when using the bathroom so not to pee on the toilet seat but put the seat down when finish. So the women in the house don't fall in for not looking to see if the seat is down and the cold porcelain. That's all you have to remember and things will be fine. Have a nice one.

if its not that hard to put the seat down, then guys why do you go off and always leave it up,huh? works both ways and you have eyes in the front of your face so you should be able to see it is still up, Woman rule One youre a big man now learn how to put the seat down jerk before you leave.

I think different person have different way of dosmetic usage. If put down the seat to use the toilet bowl, will be more comfort for me, if not like the whole body falling down and feel it's not so hygien.

I don't get all anal or anything about the toilet seat but I would like to have the seat and the lid down because it looks nicer that way. Do you keep your medicine cabinet or your closet door open? But, having said that, the seat is a set...it belongs down like any other seat. If you need to lift it up to use it, put it back in it's proper position afterwards.

actually i do keep my closet door open, i don't have a medicine cabinet but it would stay closed because someone could hit their head...but as for the toilet seat...i think thats just stupid that they make such a bid deal out of someone leaving the toilet seat up to where arguments ensue. if you see its up put it down. its really a trivial thing to argue about.

Well first of all I recommend people look where they're going. Second of all I apologize if this sounds offensive but I think it needs to be said: when a guy stands to pee in the toilet little droplets of toilet water and pee fly all over the place on a miniscule level; it also happens with urinals. Guys try standing and peeing in your toilet in your underwear and notice how ever you try to do it, you're going to feel the drops hitting your legs. Now imagine those drops everywhere around your toilet in a 3 foot radius. Now multiply that by how many times you pee and you end up with a mess everywhere. And if someone ever tries to make fun of you being a guy sitting to pee just tell them they must have a real small thin hoo-haa to be able to pee standing up cleanly. Really the only place okay to stand and pee is off your boat or if you're in the woods or something. Seriously; so unless you clean the bathroom yourself you really ought to sit to pee because it's just wrong to do it standing up and expect someone else to clean up after you. And again in regards to seats being left up remember the first rule of Kenpo (martial arts) LOOK WHERE YOU ARE GOING, what if an aligator from the sewer swam up into your toilet or a snake and you sit on it because you didn't look where you were going and get bit in the *bleep*.. yeah so look where you're going; there is no good excuse for not looking first.

Thanks for the info about the pictures...though your photo is rather disturbing. Imagine if you're drunk and hurling into a toilet like that...would you seriously drink again? *lol*

Ha ha ha! I have read all the fuss between that stupid toilet seat who doesn't know how to make himself up or down. An automatic toilet seat who can go up and down and does have a sensor if a man or a woman is using should be invented to avoid arguments among couple who makes this one a big issue. Why not throw away that toilet seat so there's no need to make it whatever way the user wants.

hi there. I am a woman and I don't find it to be a big deal. I have 4 daughters and for the most part the seat was always down. Still if we had a male guest and he left the seat up, it really wasn't an issue here.....just put it down. I have heard some women complain about that and you are so right.

yah. that's what I usually hear, the argument about the toilet lid. I'm a man by the way and it's really kind of hard putting the lid up while opening my zipper, there's a lot of bowing to do. I agree you want it up then let it up if you want ti down then for sakes lei it down.

If you think about it logicaly puting the seat down is much easier, couse gravity help us with that. Man must fight with gravity to raise the seat! This world is enough cruel for us already! Leave us alone! Leave Britney Alone! ^.^
