This question makes you think of what you give more importance to.Isn't it silly that we most of us attach more importance to our religion than God?Now what i mean is that why do we follow the religion that we do in the first place? To praise God.But we tend to forget this very thing and history is proof of the fact that we commit the gravest sins on the pretext of 'religion'-example wars.I think its ironical we call ourselves "religious" when we are forgetting the most important or the only point of religion-GOD.I"m not saying everyone is this way but aren't there many people out there who fit the description?

Hey shilpa_p God is moe important than religion . Religion is man made thing and selfish perosn with the name god earn some benefits from others. God never done such bifurcation or distinguishing from each other. We are all the creatures of god. God never shown disparity. We people in the name of god create problem in the society. We are dividing human beings in the name of religion. God is supreme power without whose blessing we can not do. Whenever we face any problem we immediately need the help of god. Men are self-centered and for the sake of their interest they can do anything.

Thank you for the thought-provoking question. It is a question I have tried in recent times to answer and convince other people about. I have held the opinion for a few years now that religions are mere artificial creations designed to make people move towards God and purity. I am convinced that no religion has been handed down by God to anybody, group or nation. Rather, He has given us a set of dos and don'ts, such as the Ten Commandments, to make us attain purity and spiritualism.
In an attempt to create religions, humans have created confusions, contradictions, hate, wars, and even atheists! This explains why we have more religions and religious houses while our spiritual attainment is on the downward trend. Imagine some Books quoting God as having a race or nation as His annointed or God visiting the iniquities of the father on the children while at the same time telling us that God is just and loving. Or what do we say of a religion that preaches the killing or maiming of "unbelievers" as if God was not capable of defending Himself or taking the due revenge.
Since God is foresighted, all-knowing, all-seeing, why would He keep changing His Laws or religions in response to changing circumstances as some religions want to make us believe? Since God is one and unchanging, why would the religion of Adam, Abraham, etc be different from our modern ones? The only reason is that religions are artificial creations of man.
God is all the beautiful attributes ascribed to Him. Let no religions detract from them.

hello shipa_p,
peace be with you!
it is common nowadays to hear such words like you mention, often times people dont really practice what they preach and they are just part of the community/church because they want to feel they belong or they want to be associated with others and sometime - though it is sad truth, they are just there to compared themselves or to get money.
i have met some pastors and preachers who just take that road so they can get better money and not really because they want to serve God.
In my case, i always try to live what i believe and not just a plain lip service, it is hard indeed but if i know i am not doing the right thing i will ask myself if God will be happy with such action or thoughts IF the answer is not then i will give my best to remove myself from such situation.
life is too short and i am happy that i am living my life in God's grace and i am happy that i am happy and living my life to the fullest.
God bless

God is more important of course. Religion is man trying to reach out to God seeking His approval. Man is incapable of doing things to please Him if they don't have Him in their hearts. It's so good that He is a forgiving God or most people wouldn't last the day.
