How unusual!

Two elderly Nuns left their convent in Italy for health reasons. When they tried to return, they were refused. They chained themselves to a lamp post outside of the Vatican to get the Pope's attention so he could intervene on their behalf. This is the strangest thing I've ever heard of. http://in.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idINIndia-33965520080609

Does nunnery or brotherhood help in our search for salvation? What is the difference of a nun and a sister, a brother and a father?

Hi estherlou! Gosh, that is no way to treat their fellow nuns. They may left without permission but they have to take into consideration that they have served the Church for more than 50 years or so. They are preaching forgiveness and mercy, kindness and compassion so I think they should practice what they are preaching. And I am hoping that it is just a simple misunderstanding. Take care and have a wonderful day!

If I had being one of the nuns I probably would have done the same thing. Interesting that the nuns didn't just give up their habits and walk away.

I agree it is a very unusual thing to door. The doors of any convent or church should be opened to anybody. After all it is the Nuns that like to remind us that we are all brother and that we should accept everybody for whom they are and not because of what they do.

It's bizzare situation, really. I trully don't understand why they can't go back and why they have to chain themselves?

I agree it is VERY strange but you have to agree it also HILARIOUS!! LOL I'm sorry. The door of a church should ALWAYS remain open for everyone especially a couple of poor old nuns. That is just cruel and wrong
