I have this huge blue ugly thing taking up my whole driveway for a week and im happy its here. It is the $300 dumpster I ordered with my stimulus check money. I hated spending the money but I got alot of stuff to get rid of. My hubby is tearing apart my basement in order to remodel someday and it was a mess down there. Now we can clean it out and I will feel much safer with using it for storm safety. One more step in the remodel it feels good.
So anyone doing some work around there places? And if not what are you hoping gets done soon?

We were going to build a new deck with a sunroom (my hubby's treat to me) and the plans included having a dumpster of our own! Well, rented one, anyway.
But he has had two bulging discs in his back that recently began to show their true colors and he's been unable to do much, so deck plans are on hold for now. He needs a surgeon, but is such a weenie about surgery that he's going to a chiropractor who isn't doing any good (and has actually aggravated the problem).
So, when your basement is remodeled are we going to get pictures? We want pictures!
Oh, as a p.s. to this, we were going to ask some of our neighbors if they had anything they needed to dispose of in our dumpster while we have it so they could contribute to the cost of it. It would be cheaper on them to not have to rent one themselves, or have it picked up by bulk trash removal... they are so expensive these days! It will help offset the cost of the dumpster! Maybe you have some neighbors who would love to get rid of something and cost them just a little, lowering the cost to you. Worth a looksee, you think?

We need a deck too wanna come build ours too lol. Hope his back gets better. Tell him you are going to the hardware store and really take him in for surgery.
I had one neighbor that is dumping some stuff but we borrowed his truck a few times in return for throwing it in our dumpster. And we get to use it more when we start buying the stuff for the basement.

Isn't bartering fun? I love the bartering system. I know our government hates it, because they can't collect taxes on it! I live across the road from a steer farmer, and I'm growing all kinds of nuts, fruits and vegetables. I'm going to try to barter with him... some meat in exchange for some fruits and veggies. Oh, he has chickens, too, so if he'll throw in some eggs, I'll throw in some nuts.
It's great to have a friend with a truck! But it can be a pain when you're the only one with a truck out of all your friends. LOL I know... my hubby has a truck.

woww... that is really nice... at least you will get your basement done with the dumpster... i know that it does sound very costly... but we don't have much choice, haven't we??? we just have to spend the money that we needed to... i and my hubby are not planning to do anything to our house yet at the moment as we don't have the money yet... may be later on when we think of something, then we might do it if we have the money... take care and have a nice day...

I am working on just regular wear and tear. Fixing a drawer track, shower door, paint certain rooms. Also, I just cleaned out and organized my walk in closet and the whole rod/shelf system broke. Everything went everywhere. So I just fixed that. Also due to the time of year, we do alot outside.

I have some projects that I need to work on too. I need to finish the bathrooom. I have some more painting to do and also I have some border to put up. I have my hallway that I need to paint to. Thursday I am having my gutters fixed on one side of the house and replaced on the other side of the house. There is always something that needs to be done when you have a house. Its always a work in progress. Good luck with the basement. That is one thing I wish I had was a basement. I have always had one before. When the opportunity came up to get this house, we had to jump on it. The price was right.

Yeah its an ongoing project when you own a home. I had a finished basement but they did it wrong and we had water damage behind the walls and no heat at all down there. And with cold winters here we had to fix that.

Hello minnie, we are also working for our kitchen this time since the cabinets were too old now. I hate the process of tearing it and cleaning the area but I also love the time when we will get it done! LOL!, No short cut so I have to be patient!

Well I'm STILL attempting to finish up my spring...or should I now say summer cleaning project...that's definitely on hold until it gets cooler...We've been having a real horrid heat wave where I am and I have as much energy lately as a slug. So just been spending the past few days and nights glued in front of my computer

I need one of those too but I just can't afford the $300 to get one. I have been doing some thorough cleaning everywhere and just putting out lots of trash every week. I know the trashmen are not happy with me. I am a pack rat and I am working on getting rid of about 20 years worth of mementos and crap that is stored along side each other. The hard part is throwing out stuff that I think I will need in the future. It is really hard for me, but I am getting better so I should have it done sooner than later. Good luck to you on your cleaning and have a great day!

Oh, we always have work to do around here, seems like all summer we're out having to do some kind of yardwork, and its always hot, and sticky..I hate it...lol. Well we've been looking for some kind of storage trailer, like an old semi-trailer or container, one that is airtight and rodent proof, and weatherproof. My husband is tired of everything we have getting rained on and sitting out in the weather, getting ruined, we have an old shed behind the house but its useless, the roof is starting to cave in and it leaks, the garage isn't any better. Thats another thing that we need to get done is clean out the garage, there is so much stuff in there, you can't even walk thru it, its years and years of accumulation, that his parents accumulated. So we're left to deal with it all, I told him we may need to hire some people to come help us clean it up....Have a good day...

Last week I started painting my girls bedroom after I have been promising since we moved in 2 years ago. They wanted pink and black checkerboards on one side of the room and blue and black on the other. It has been 5 days. Because of the heat and humidity here I can only manage about 8 squars a day. I really hope they will appreciate all my efforts!

That is what I need here too just to get rid of things. LOL We are not doing anything like you are doing but my brother and sister in law are completing up a huge job of adding on to their home. I haven't seen any pictures yet and can't wait to see the changes they have made. The way she is talking it will be about double in size and 99.9% of it on their own.
Have fun throwing away stuff.

We are in the process of having the garden done, and so that is exciting we have been saving up for it all year and to actually see the work being started is ace.
I have been buying bits and pieces for around the house just to brighten it up a bit and make it a bit more cozy too. I will be doing some more decorating hopefully next year.
We need to hire a skip really, as we have tonnes of rubbish everywhere that really needs sorting out.
