Do you remember finding out you were pregnant for the first time?

I was 17 years old when I found out I was pregnant. I had been taking the pill but had been put on a course of antibiotics and the silly old doc that I had at the time did not warn me that this would interfere with my pill. So I was in effect unprotected. I was going steady with a lad who was 3 years older than me, but my parents hated him, not long after I saw for myself why, but at the time I was intent on doing everything they told me not to do and so I saw nothing. When I missed my first period I knew straight away, but I just hoped that I was wrong. I bought a test and I did it in the bathroom of our house while my mum and dad were working downstairs in the pub. When I think of what the pregnancy tests were like then, it was really complicated I had to swop the stick from one pot to another and wait for about 10 minutes for the result. Those were the longest 10 minutes of my life, and when it came back positive I had a can of beer and a cigarette because I knew that I was in big trouble. I was too, the poo poo hit the fan big time once word got out and it was a nightmare, but I stuck with the decision I had made to keep the baby and it went from there. So no, the news of my pregnancy was not a happy occasion at all! What was it like for you? How did you feel? How did others feel? What were the circumstances of your life surrounding that pregnancy, happy or sad?

My first pregnancy was a shocker,a few weeks after we were wed I missed my monthly and the only thing that I thought was what a bad time it had come at.We had no money and lived in a rented house and we were both working trying to set up a home and then this news came along. But it didnt take us long to get used to the idea and we we feeling great.

Yes I can understand the shock part, I was shocked and I had nothing either. No home, no support and no money, it is not a nice feeling.

Yes I remember when I found out I was first pregnant! I had suspected it because I took my birth control at different time periods for a few days and I was a little late - so when I bought the home pregnancy kit I was very nervous. I was only 20 and had been married to my husband for just 9 months - I was still going to college full time and we were trying to get out of debt and build our finances. You know that's always people's excuse "we're not financially ready"... well I don't think you'll really ever be - but God has perfect timing. Everyone was very supportive and although my husband and I were pretty nervous, we were so blessed and happy when my beautiful little baby arrived! Then came two, then came three - and we're still as happy as ever!

I was 22. I had been seeing this guy for about a month. I had just gotten birth control pills but someone broke into my car and stole them among other things. I know, why would someone steal my pills, but they were gone. So any who. I just had a feeling I was prego so I bought a test one day on my lunch break and went home and took it. It came up two lines but the second one was kind of blurry so I wasn't sure. I grabbed this guy who lived down the hall and asked what he thought it meant. He said two lines! I started crying and I was scared to tell this guy. I went to the clinic and got a test done to confirm I was. Then the scary trip to his house. He took it okay. We decided to keep the baby. She just turned two this past Sunday and we are married now.

My God! From all the responses before me, I feel like an aunt become pregnant at 99! My only pregnancy occurred on the 26th year of my life, 2 years after marriage. (Very dull and predictable) Everybody (including me) were happy

I'd been married for two years and we weren't planning to have any kids for awhile, but the pill made me feel miserable so we opted for other methods of birth control, which didn't work as well. When I missed a period and started putting on a little weight I suspected we might be pregnant, so I went to the doc and got my pregnancy test. It was +, and I can say it was a joyous occasion for us. The first thing my husband said when I told him was, "Oh, boy." But we had a girl.

When I first got pregnant, I was in the military in another country. I had went home to see my husband and got pregnant behind that. I will never forget my late father saying, "You should have stayed in Asia". I was 26 years old, doing well, and the time had come for me to do so, so it happened. I had my youngest the year after my eldest. they are now 16 and 18; My eldest just graduated from high school last month.

I'm sorry that it wasn't a happy time for you. I first found out about a month before my second wedding anniversary, I was 20 years old at the time. My husband at the time really wanted a big family and I wasn't really wanting one at all, but we had tried for the entire year before to get pregnant and had given up. I was not the happiest because I didn't feel old enough to have a child at this point in my life and I honestly didn't want to wake up in the middle of the night and all of that stuff. It took a while to be happy especially when I spent most of the time in the hospital on bed rest due to complications, but after a few years I came to realize that it was the most wonderful thing I ever did. I am very glad I was able to come to this realization because about 5 years ago, my ex-husband became very inactive in the children's (we went on to have another before divorcing) lives.

It is a good job you did not have the big family really then. I am sorry that it was like that for you but at least you were happy about it in the end.

it's a good thing there are pregnancy test kits here that only take two minutes before you get the result. The first time I bought one was after three days of having missed my period. I tried it in out bathroom, with my husband (still my boyfriend by then) waiting at our room (we were living together without the knowledge of our parents). I was quite relieved to see the result was negative. The second time I missed my period, I bought another kit after a week (since I had my period on the fourth day the last time I bought one). I was really thinking that that time, I'm sure was pregnant. I waited two minutes for the result (and yes, it was also the longest 2 minutes in my entire life, since I really had a bad feeling that time). After the 2 minutes, I saw two lines in the kit, indicating that it's positive, I WAS PREGNANT. I got so weak and didn't want to go out from the bathroom. But I managed to return to our room anyway (didn't know how I did that). When I entered the room, he told me that I was too pale. I sat down and just stayed silent. I didn't talk to him, and just handed the kit. We were silent, we didn't know what to actually feel. I was a little bit happy, but was also afraid: "what will my parents say?" Well, since I was working away from my parents, my pregnancy was kept secret. They just found out after the delivery, and believe me, it was a pleasant scent, when my sister and niece were asking me, in front of many people at the airport: "who's that baby??". Eventually, they accepted everything that happened. After all, my husband and I already have a job, so we're really not a burden to them.

When I got pregnant the first time...at first I was scared..but as the pregnancy got further along it turned out not to be so bad. I was really happy. Then when he was born...it was the best. Now he is 10..11 on June 19th. Time really does fly.

Yes. It was 16 years ago. I was very nervous about it because I really didn't want to have children at the time. I knew that I was going to be a single parent also. I knew it was going to be very hard for me to raise her all on my own. My family was happy to have a new baby coming though. I raised her for 9 months by myself and then met my wanderful husband who is a really goos father to her and a good husband to me. We couldn't be much happier now.

I was 18 when I found out I was pregnant. I got pregnant the night of my graduation. My mom knew right away. My dad blamed it on my neighbor next door.(which was a girl) He told me I should have never been hanging with her. My mom keep saying now Raymond, Teresa didn't get her pregnant....LOL...But I thought my parents would kill me. But they took it really well. I found out in July and was married in Aug. We had planned on getting married before the pregnancy but it just made us marry sooner. I would not change a thing because my dad passed away a year after my daughter was born. He loved her very much.

ahh memories.. i was 16.. and yeah, the home tests back then were like trying to run scientific experiments with a chemistry set. two drops of this, a pinch of that powder, couple more droppers of the other, shake the test tubes.. wait forever.. i was happy though, i wanted to get pregnant. had a pack of birthcontrol pills inmy top drawer that i was sposd to actually start taking as soon as i got my period. only i didnt get it, and booyah pregnant. my parents however werent as thrilled abot my impending parenthood as i was.. and i had to hide my happiness over it. i was swiftly told "get rid of it.. or get the phuck out!!" i packed my stuff happily and left. sadly tho.. because of the problems they caused in my ife after i left home.. others pitching fits over the baby.. and working fulltime on my feet constantly.. i lost that baby a month later. i sternly beleive that he was given to me just long enough to help me escape the hell of my parents house.. and was taken back because i was just too young to be a really good mommy at that time in my life, and im grateful for the time got. second time.. when the doc came in to tell me.. i jumped offa the stool screaming weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and hugged and kissed him. his reaction? "never had anyone do THAT before! usually people say oh nooo" lol i was 19.. she is now the same age i was when i found out i was pregnant with her. no one else was happy about her but me.. fact her sperm donor, after feigning TRYING to have a child with me for two years, demanded i get rid of her too.. he was swiftly told to go to hell, and he attempted to make me lose her too. thankfully, he failed miserably, the pr|ck. third.. i was 31, and i took the test by myself at home.. (the most technicogically advanced peice of equipment you will ever pee on!) and when the stick had those two little lines.. i once again screamed weeeeeeee along with a holysh|t!! and threw myself onto my bed in a fit of giggles that lasted a good 20 minutes. lol once again however.. the only ones happy about her were me and malliki.. his family didnt want us together at all.. my family said i was "too old to breed, get rid of it or youll have to raise a retard" and my oldest daughter took her sperm donors position in attempting to make me miscarry. thankfully she too failed miserably. kept that little stick with the little lines on it too.. its on my alter with other bits of things representing my wee sprite, ribbons shes given me, locks of her hair.. etc now.. im 39.. going after a fourth time of screaming weeee and spending 10 months putting headphones on my tummy to pipe music inutero to another child. this time tho.. i wont make the mistake of telling a damned soul cept those who love me until way after the head comes out, if at all.. i know ya said relay the first time.. but i felt like sharing

I discovered that I was pregnant not very long ago. I missed my period and took a test that came back negative (My birth control interfered with it). I then had a miscarriage. It was very depressing, but I'd rather miscarry it than have to raise it in the world we live in today. :[
