Yeah it definitely is cheaper. The one i built i built for under $600. Thats minus two hard drives and a dvd burner i just moved from my previous computer though. But i got motherboard, processor, case, ram, video card and power supply all for under $600.

I have a Toshiba laptop and have had it for about 2 years now. I really do like it I barely have any trouble with it. At work we get discounts on Dells since all our work equipment comes from there. Next time I am in the market for one I think I will try a Dell.

we had this computer that i'm on for about 2 and a half years. my b/f had it before me, and he played on it a lot when he first got it, until he gave it to me after he got his laptop. i've been using it since he bought his laptop, and it still works perfect. :) I love this computer, and it is still in excellent shape to tell ya the truth.

I had a Gateway for about 9 years. My son inlaw put a parental control on it. Then there was a few months we didn't use it. Then we get the internet back and no one could remember the password. So we couldn't get into it. So we went and bought a emachine back in Feb. of this year. Its okay but I'd rather have my gateway back. We had even took the gateway to a computer tech and he can't even get it open.

My computer is one I've built myself and changed parts alot. The case is about 4 years old as is the modem. I have a TV tuner & DVD burner that are 2 years old. My harddrives and mother board are about 2 years old as well. The processor is 3 years old. A couple sticks of ram in it and my video card are all less than 6 months old. I upgrade and replace my parts as i choose. I would love to get a quadcore processor, motherboard and some new ram in the near future.

That would be a good way to save money over time instead of buying a whole new computer. Thanks for the response.
