My mother-in-law is in her 70's and was watching Oprah or something the other day. They were talking about improving your brain health and 5 things that you can do to keep your brain stimulated and hopefully deter alzheimers. She couldn't remember all 5 (go figure) but 2 she could remember were increasing the amount of Omega-3's you eat and also using your opposite hand to do things. She takes vitamins that are pretty high in Omega-3 so that's a good thing, and she's now trying to use her left hand more. It's taking her a bit longer to brush her teeth now, but she's getting better! One of the other things we were talking about in increase brain stimulus was playing video games, so I set her up on pogo.com as a free member. I showed her around a bit and she was pretty excited about some of the Solitaire games as well as the board games. I'm sure she'll be calling me to help her out a bit, but I'm sure after a while she'll get tired of it and will stop playing... We shall see!!!

What a wonderful thing to do! When my dad finally got on the computer it was here and at my daughters...he thought it was so neat. My son actually thought that he would have lived longer if he had had a computer...it would chase some of the lonliness away. He loved coming and having someone help him send emails too....but would he get mad if someone didn't email him back right away! LOL But truly! Good for you for setting her up.....my dad loved playing the games!

What's going to happen if you have created another "Pogo addict"? LOL. I hope your mother-in-law enjoys her Pogo playing as much as I do. Hope to drop in and tell you hello again soon.

I hope she likes it also, and becomes an addict!!! My father-in-law might not be too happy with that though...

Maybe she will surprise you, she will meet some people there and make some connections and will stick with Pogo! Maybe after she plays pogo for awhile she will be able to remember 5 out 5 things!

I wonder if I can find the episode - I think it was Oprah - and see if it shows what the things were! I do hope she sticks with pogo, but sometimes she gets frustrated easily.

I think it is great that you set her up with a pogo.com account. Hopefully she will enjoy it. I think that pogo is great for people of all ages. Even my 8 year old likes to log into my pogo account and play games from time to time. He likes Pop it best.

I could play all day long - and sometimes I do!!! I keep thinking if she really likes it my father-in-law might be upset with me (jokingly of course) for setting her up.

That's great! Maybe with a variety of games that will keep her interest and she'll keep coming back. Maybe I should try to get my mom on. She likes solitaire and mahjong, those types of games. And I know she's talked before about getting a game when she heard it's great for stimulation. However, that plan fell through when she found out you had to buy a Gameboy or whatever it was. LOL...so she might enjoy this.

Yeah, sigh her up for the free pogo.com, that's what I did. I have to call my mother-in-law this weekend and see if she's been playing.
