the real essence of independence in our country is up to the flag only, our flags fly freely but the the people specially government official still followed what other countries want them to do. i don't believe that we have independence in our country. you are right still our officials are puppies of different nations who wants to dominate us.

i would say that we are puppies... its more like puppets. it is in the nature of filipinos to be caring, giving, and welcoming. that's why we are known for the "filipino hospitality". this is what makes us "sunud-sunuran". we tend to serve other people especially yung mga "kano". we try to please them for some apparent reason. this is alwo the reason why the call center industry is so successful here.

Oh well technically we are and independent country. The UN recognizes us to be an independent country. We have our own system of currency being used and adopted. We have our own system of government and the people that lead us are Filipinos. But we Filipinos seem to have clinging to our colonial past. We are so dependent to other cultures and influence. I am pretty sure it will take time before we can get rid of these influences that really makes us a bit half hearted when we consider ourselves to be truly independent.
