Bathroom Doors OPEN!

I find this really amusing. I work in a really large building. There are restrooms in the center, and both ends of the building. I find it so amusing when I come to work in the morning to find the doors propped open by the custodians. They do this so the floors will dry. Now what I find amusing is that people will go on in without closing the door, do their business like normal. I just shake my head when I go by, see the door open and then a flush. I would never do this! I always shut the door if I am the first one in there in the morning. So my question to you is, would you go into the restroom and use it leaving the door open? Or would you shut the door behind you? I guess some people don't care about privacy...lol.

I hate closed doors worse than anything because of my past.....however.....I could not ever do my business with the door open. I even keep the door closed when it's just me and my husband in the house.

Aww if I have a stall door to lock, then I probably would leave it open as well. Now if there was not a stall door then yes I would have to shut the outer door.

I guess it depends on where the toilets are located. At the Naval Hospital you have to do an S curve around a wall that leads to a large room full of sinks and a smaller area in the back where the toilets are. You can't see or hear anything from the hallway when the door is open. I've left the door open there, but in most cases I hold it or move the sign. I can't "go" if someone is watching or listening, like if there is a line of people and they're staring at the door waiting on me to come out. I freeze up when under pressure. lmao

Yeah I guess after awhile you don't get shocked by seeing those kinds of things.
I always close the door when I use the bathroom. Unfortunately, when I'm in public restrooms, the locks don't always works.
Once I was in a public bathroom where the lock didn't work. I REALLY had to go, so I made do by putting my bag behind the door to act as a barricade.
Unfortunately, some moron just barged in without knocking. Why don't people knock before they enter public restrooms? Don't they know that the locks don't always work?

If it had stalls in it I would more than likely leave it open. The reason is that I hate after I have done my business, washed my hands and ready to go, I have to touch the exterior door not knowing if the people before me washed their hands. I normally take a papertowel to open the exterior door if its closed. This would be one less step and probally one less cold per year...ickkkk....the germs on the bathroom door!

I always double check that the door of the bathroom is closed, I don't want to be embarrassed if someone by mistake come in, this is bad habit to leave it open behind, actually you remembered me with a joke which says "Why do some people leave the bathroom's door open behind? the answer was because they won't let anybody to sneak from the door hole", I didn't imagine that their is some people do it.

I guess I would be one of the ones that don't care about privacy. I would be one of the ones that would go in and use the bathroom without closing the door. My first thought is that I am lazy and I am not the one who propped the door open in the first place; second, the door was propped open for a purpose, and since I don't know what that is or if this person is returning, let me leave it alone; third, the stalls have doors, right? So you can't see me! Finally, if you hear me in there doing my business, so what? We all do it! We're all human!!! So why should I be embarrassed about a normal bodily function?

I have yet to figure out why they prop the doors open. If they mop, you sure can't tell it. There is tile in there with a groove that is supposed to be white. It (the groove) is now black. So if they are mopping, they are not mopping with any kind of effort.

Oh my. Is it one of the bathrooms with stalls, or does it just have one toilet? I would not mind if it was stalls, that is one less door that I have to open, and the bathrooms at my old high school did not have doors when we walked in there. But, if it is just a single-toilet, you have some brave co-workers! I would definitely shut that door behind me.

We have thousands of kids roaming the halls of the high school that I used to go to, and wide open entrances (ten feet on each side) on both the men's and women's bathrooms. I think some people are used to it, but I can understand that others might feel uncomfortable. Also, people there early in the morning might not feel as bad about it because there are less employees nearby at the moment.

Sometimes I leave the door open.
It depends on how much attention I'm paying. I know sometimes after I've done my business I walk out and realize it's open and had a little "flush" of embarrassment.
It also depends on how many people are in the bathroom. If I'm the only one and I'm paying attention, then yes I will close that puppy. Especially if it's a small bathroom, say 2 stalls.
If it's a bathroom with a lot of stalls and a lot of activity then I probably won't because:
1)I'll feel like a fool for being the only one wanting the privacy. Why would I feel this way? Because I believe going to the bathroom is a natural part of life and in a perfect world people wouldn't be embarrassed by doing things they have to do to live.
2)It won't matter in the long run...there's already people in there to hear you go, plus people outside the restroom won't be able to identify who's doing what.

Oh,dear.I think it's a common discussion.
Cause I have something agreed with you.
Often,my mother tells me not to close the door when I am at home. For the reason,it's unconvenient for her to use the washroom.
Though thus.I always close the door.lol
Why does she get the strange idea? I want to know...
If the male comes ...
Oh my god.

I've worked in places where I've seen that, and honestly, I don't get it. Not only do I not want to be seen or heard, I don't want to see or hear anyone else. I can't see why someone would neglect to close the door. Can they be in that much of a hurry? It only takes a second to kick the doorstop up.

I am sure that all of the responses you get to this discussion says they would close the door behind them, because that is the normal thing to do. But I can only guess that some people aren't normal. Of course I would close the door even though I am a woman and there would be another door to close for me so it would be a little more private for me. Hee hee.

Don't these bathrooms has stalls with doors. If this is equip then maybe it does not make a difference for the users. They just go on doing their business.
