I Love swimming a lot. Initially i was scarred of water but once i got the hang of it i have not really looked back. I love swimming under water than over it, Its one of my favorite ways to relax. U need a calm and tension free mind to stay under water for long. How long can you swim/stay under water? A part from that i can do all 4 strokes, not that good with the butterfly with freestyle being my favorite and the most preferred, i can go about 4 laps before i run out of gas. How long can you swim? ever dared to cross the English channel? I'm a poor diver, most of the times i fall like a rock, i would really like to improve on that... If you don't know swimming i recommend learning it, i feel its some thing every human being should know...after all its the best exercise ever, there is not a single part of ur body which you don't use while swimming. Please share your experience, tips & tricks with swimming.. I just love water! I love Swimming!

Yea. Swimming is my best sport. It's my favorite too. I learned swimming when I was 6 years old. I can swim all sorts of strokes except butterfly stroke. That's too tiring. I enjoy swimming early in the morning or early evening when the weather is cooling. I can swim more than 20 laps non-stop. I have good stamina for swimming. As for diving, you need to leap up first before you curve in towards the water. I hope this helps. I'm not sure how I should explain it. ;)

yes swimming under water is like being in our own world. And you have to know how to control your mind if you have to stay down for long with out breating. You should be physically in very good shape to swim for 2 KM, stamina for swimming means stamina for every thing else! Great!

wow! thats great! Butterfly is tough, i can barely do a lap, but its the most beautiful stroke to watch when some with a fluent action does that. u mean u can do 20 laps of a standard pool? 50 x 25 meters? that means u can swim 2 kilometers non stop! thats really great! i'm really trying to improve, i dont go beyond 400 meters that is 4 laps non stop. i can dive from a reasonable distance, the problem is when i try to dive from the high board ... its still a bit scary for me... i love to swim under water swimmer more than over it.

I,too, love to swim. I am a very strong swimmer and have gone swimming all of my life, since I was a very little girl. I grew up with camping a lot and we went swimming in the lakes alot. I don't like to swim in a public pool but I love to go swimming in the river or lake. I love the openess a lake provides. I also taught my kids how to swim, at a very young age and also raised them to go camping and fishing and swimming. To this day, they are adults now, they still go swimming and campining and fishing. I guess they like it as much as me, since they grew up with it too and continue to go.

Well, no I wouldn't be able to swim the English Channel. I wouldn't even try to. It is just too far and dangerous, with the currents. But I am just saying that I am a strong swimmer not a pro at it. Thanks.

yes! you can prevent yourself from falling into water, but even if you fall in deep water make sure u dont panic (if you can...that is..) i feel swimming is some thing every one knows naturally, but because of the fear of water you drown easily.

I like swimming, even though it's something I haven't done in quite a while. I was used to go on for 3-4 hors in the water, I guess I can still do that.

I think u are from kerala...thats great! but be careful with water. You can always be good at swimming if u put some time into it. i'm not a big expert in rescuing a person from water, thats a special art, u have to know how to swim holding the other person. Experts say we should grab the person from behind his left arm so that he cannot catch us back in his struggle.

you could still learn it if you want to. But its easy to learn when one is very young. i was 16 when i learned how to swim, during those days a 4 year old girl used to swim the full length of the pool and i used to feel lot of respect for her!

Oh I love swimming! :} I grew up by the sea, and my best memories involve the sea. In college I took up swimming, and that's where I learned the formal strokes except the butterfly. But floating and moving about in the water akin to treading, I learned all by myself as a child who grew up by the sea. I have observed that I feel lighter when swimming in seawater, heavier when in the swimming pool. I think it has something to do with differences in buoyancy.
