I suffer from severe migraines, and I know sometimes it can ruin my entire day, or even my week. I always have some sort of headache, but have learned to sort of deal with the low grade headaches and migraines. But sometimes, they are just too intense. I have to sit in a dark room, and have absolute silence because my ears and eyes are so sensitive to light and sound.
This is hard to do often because of my son. I'm not going to just get up and leave when this happens. I have to work through it, and try to ignore the jolts and throbbing in my head.
My question is, what do you do when you have a migraine and don't have the time to slow down and take a minute?
I don't like taking headache medications, I've been perscribed so many, and none leave me migraine free. Excedrin left me with rebound headaches worse than what I had before I started taking it. I'll take an asprin now and again, but nothing really helps but sleep. And that's just a temporary get away. I wake up with them.
I know some foods are green tea are suppose to help. What do you do?

My partner had migraines and they are now under control with medications that are for that specifically, not just pain pills. You should see a neurologist who specializes in migraines. There is no reason for you to be disabled by them when you could be free of that kind of pain. She also took vitamin B2 daily, which helped somehow.
You and your family deserve better than having to deal with the disabling sickness and pain that these headaches produce. I hope you will seek professional help.

I have suffered from severe migraines for quite a while.A lot of time's they are caused by stress.I used to take along time ago Excedrin Migraine and it worked good. But,like you I do not like taking alot of meds and the doctor told me not to take it because I had high blood pressure.I find camomile tea helps alot, not too much caffeine.Lavender helps against stress.I burn lavender candles and essential oils as well as spraying lavender linen spray on my pillow.Plus listening, especially at bed time relaxing sounds, rain, dolphins, cricket sounds, whatever relaxes you.And I have found that if you soak a wash cloth in water and lavender oil.Place on your forhead while you relax it helps too.

I'm fortunate--I did not inherit that tendency from my mother (I got excrutiating sinus headaches and hayfever from dad!), but I have a friend who missed a LOT of work due to his migraines. A couple of suggestions: I sell a product called Basic Instinct, a phermone cologne that works with your own body chemistry to give you a unique scent; I put some on my wrists when my sinuses are especially bad--it gives me relief BEFORE any sinus medication works ! Another one is to have a gentle massaging (vibrating) object on your temple(s) with your eyes closed (though that could be tension). I'm sorry to hear about it--I hope you get through it!

Toast some bread.... Fry an egg and cut it up and mix it together, then get a warm rag, lay down for a little bit with the rag either on the back of your neck or on your forehead and that will help or atleast it does for me :)

My doctor actually placed me on a prophylactic. It was Calan which is used as a high b.p. med. Not because i had hypertension (i didn't) but because of the severity and frequency of the headaches and because of the way my vessels in my head was constricting (big part of the pain). I was amazed at how much it lessened the frequency of them. I stayed on it for a couple of years but have been off of it 5or6yrs. now and although i get maybe 1 or 2 a year it is in no way as bad as it was and because i generally have an aura before i get one i have migraine meds that i take at the first hint of the aura and get to a cold quite dark room to go to sleep. If when i wake up it has gotten worse i go to the e.r. before i start pulling my hair out by the roots. Good Luck, hope you find relief.
