What did he mean???

I just walked downstairs to put our sheets in the laundry and my husband says "I've got the hose in the hottub." Well, in and of itself, that meant absolutely nothing to me. OK, so I'm going to do some laundry and he's already using some water to fill up the hottub. So, that just means that it's going to take a bit longer for the hottub to fill and I'm going to have less cold water in the laundry. I have no idea why he told me this - since it was something I could see and hear and already knew! I'm pretty sure he meant "Can you wait to do the laundry until I've got the hottub full?" Well, I've got the laundry going and it took about 10 minutes longer for him to fill the hottob. Why can't he just say what he means instead of something that's RELATED to what he means???

HAHAHAH one of the great mysteries of the universe. I think, they think we like the puzzle. Makes us feel really great to be able to decipher what they want, need, think with only the one word to go on. Kind of flattering really. Course could be they are just lazy communicators and if that's the case it's more frustrating than flattering.
When I feel flattered I go ahead and do what I think it is he wants done. When I feel frustrated I pretend I haven't a clue what he means and wait for him to flesh out his meaning.

Eh, I just said "whatever" and did the laundry. I'm pretty sure he didn't want me to run the wahser while he was running the water into the hottub. It could have put a strain on the well, but we take showers and run the washer so I knew it'd be ok.

BECAUSE you are a woman and a mind reader, and so considerate and because he needed to say something. Is it possible he ACTUALLY meant, "I have the hose in the hot tub and I am looking forward to being in it with you later."? My hubby would say something like that. I of course would say, "So?" and see if he would go ahead and finish his thought. I tell him I cannot hear what he does not say.

Well, after a TON of margaritas, and quite a few visitors, the hottub is empty... He's in bed, I'm on the computer... I guess he shoulda told me what he really wanted!!! hahahaha

He wants you to delay the laundry or hurry it up because he wants you to come into the hot tub with him. Strange there is not enough water to pull the washing machine and also do the laundry at the same time. Maybe you should get him to check into that. I think there are hot water heaters that are more economical so you can do both, then you can relax in the hot tub with him while your washing machine is going.

We have a well and if you run too much water at one time it can cause problems. But, filling the hottub and doing laundry is not enough to do it. He's used to city water so he's kind leery of the whole well thing.
Our hot water heater is fine too - we just had them adjust it a bit since we have no small children around. The hottub fills with cold water from the hose too.
He just has no clue sometimes :)

The answer is simple. Its a guy thing. we do say what we mean, but unless you are another guy you just cannot interpret its meaning. To me, "I've got a hose in the hottub" could mean nothing else but that he is filling the hottub. Less water pressure would just take longer. Males have the same problem understanding what women are saying too. Its all in the way that we interpret things.

Thanks for enlightening me! I kinda figured he meant that, but I sure wish he'd say that!!! I'm usually pretty upfront with what I'm saying. If I want you to not run the water because I'm using it, I'll say "Do that later because I'm using the water." How hard can that be, eh??? Men, can't live with 'em, can't shoot 'em!
