I just wonder why other student strive to get high grades when in fact there are a lot of successful people that haven't even finish school. I think most of the company now are up to the individual's skills. I gotta know what you think about this...

I am totally in favour of your view nowadays high grade does not matter much. High grades are of immense use in school days or getting admissions into the colleges . But today it is really the work experience your personal skills, how u have tackled the work assigned tou is major consideration. Degrees with flying colours can make your entry possible in an organisation .But to sustain you have to work harder and harder. that is my view

HIGH GRADES make an instant shine out among the rest of the applicants... though he/she already has the edge of getting the job, ALL WILL STILL HAVE A FAIR SHARE DURING THE INTERVIEW... What the employer hears from you during this phase matters more than the grade you have achieved in school. So better to have a high grade but remember to live up the expectation as well.

GPA's and good grades do not mean anything when you apply for a job. Putting that on your resume doesn't help you get your foot int he door for most jobs. Your skill level, interview and resume writing skills matter more. I know more people who had C's and D's that are successful - most without college degrees - than people who graduated top of their class. That is how it works, people burn themselves out getting awesome grades and do not always have the social skills to succeed in the real world.

I think it depends on the job. Some jobs only need to see a degree. Hence our saying at working, that "C's get degrees!" because even if you were a straight C student, on a job application you would look the same as a student with a 4.0.
However, grades are important if you need to apply to graduate school later. Then you definitely need to be above everyone else.
And there are some jobs that check, but it's probably not most.

well from what i always see and hear its forever about SKILL , not enough skill experience , its as if they look at ur work history before ur grades , ughh its anyoing , why cant they teach or tell the kids in school this , not to knock them off their academics but jeez i wish someone told me , and i dont have the best report card on earth , i wasnt a A+ student , i know some also and they have regular jobs like a person i know who was making A's and B's was working at CVS as a cashier...not really hard but its like that person should do sothing more than that

Actually grades are important. For getting a job you must have some skills and knowledge. A HIGHER GRADE DOESN"T MEAN THAT HIGHER SKILL.
Getting marks on exams may not increase your skill, but it is used as ameasuring tool by the companies when they consider you for their job. They don't have any thing else to see that tou are fit for the job. They do conduct an interview , but as interviews can be prepared or practised they consider the grades also.
.
But AFTER THE FIRST JOB, you don't need any grade all that matters will be your performance in your company and experience earned from the job.
BOTH SKILL AND GRADE IS REQUIRED.

Well.If you have high grades its like adding to your credentials. There have been cases where people who didn't do very well were very successful at their work but you can never be sure if lady luck will be on your side so you'll be taking a big risk.So people are right to strive to get high grades since it increases their likelihood of making an impression and also it seems like they deserve the success they achieve.Don't you think?
