Where is the best place to start a blog and get found and traffic? What about starting a website? Where did you start? How do you decide what is best to blog about?

If you are looking to make money with your blog, you need your own domain name. My host currently sells them for $6.99 for a .com and 99 cents for .info. They're hosting is reliable and cheap. You will want the linux hosting package since that is the most compatible with everything (don't be fooled if you are running a windows computer that you should get a windows server!) Once you have a domain and hosting set up you have a few options. You can install wordpress or drupal. I have used blogger.com but I can't stand them - they don't have nearly enough features, though it is still possible to use them - you could even buy your own domain name and still use the free blogger hosting, which is a nice cheap option. If installing wordpress or Drupal is too hard, you can always opt for a Typepad account which basically does most of the work for you, but it's not free or inexpensive. The best thing to blog about is all depending on what your goal is. If you want to make money, then you need to do a lot of keyword research and find out what the underserved profitable markets are. If your goal is just to write about something you like, then you can pick anything you want really. Getting traffic is a harder hurdle, but joining blog catalog, entrecard, and stumble upon will get you started - networking helps a lot. Hope that helps - if you have any other questions or need other info just send me a pm since I don't always find my way back to discussions :)

What kind of site is this blog for? What are the other people on the site interested in? Read afew of the members blog and see what they are all about. What is your reason for being on this site? A blog that is energetic, well written, and hits on the wave of interest or concerns will gain readers.

I use blogger for my blogs. I have 4 blogs and am currently updating them. I have been busy lately and haven't had time to update them like I would like but have just recently updated 2 and am currently updating one right now as I speak. Here are all 4 of my blogs: http://cwilson26.blogspot.com http://cwilson26-depression.blogspot.com http://cwilson26-entertainment.blogspot.com http://cwilson26-bloggersworld.blogspot.com You can read on my main blog, the first one, what I use for traffic. Also check out the banners and links on the right side for places to promote your blog. :)

you can create your blog for free through blogger.com and wordpress.com if you already have a blog site you can join some community sites like this my lot you can post your blog links here for some references or some blog communities like blogcatalog.com, bumpzee.com and mybloglog.com you can also join some forums related to your blog, you can put your blog links on your signature and again you can put your links on you post if it is related to the topic for some references or else you might get kick out from the forum for spamming. the best to blog about? well, i guess the best is the ones you interested most.
