I have not been listening to music for the past weeks. The songs in my MP3 have been accidentally deleted. I have some songs in my computer but they are not the type of songs i like listening too.
After being deprived of music, I feel less happy and less organized.
How about you? Do you see music as an important part of your life? Is it necessary for you to listen to music?

Hie Richiem, music has been around me since I was young. I was introduced to those Chinese opera songs to upbeat English ones as I was growing up. It lifts up my mood for the day and comforts me when I wind down at the end of the day.I feel something is lacking in me if I am without any music, too quiet for my soul in a way.
Life is definitely more fun and alive with music around.
Cheers and happy posting!

You have unusual kinds of music in your growing-up years. I don't think I would like listening to Chinese opera songs in my childhood. But maybe when those are the favorites in those days, maybe I would also listen to it. The songs that I listen to in my childhood are the ones which are big hits in that time. I don't listen to them anymore as they can be considered "corny" now.

I didn't like it either but got used to it as my grandmother was staying with us. She and my mum would listen to those music and radio dramas almost everyday.
I prefer the upbeat modern songs of course
Cheers.

I love music is why i like to do the internet dj thing. have a ton of music. Music can express so many emptions. Songs for when you are sad or happy or mad. Songs to make you laugh and cry. Do I have to have it all the time? no! i go through times where I just want peace and quiet for a few days.

I like your idea of internet dj thing. How do you do that? do you do it on the internet or just in your pc? Do you add spiels?
I don't think I can be an internet dj. I do love listening to music but I don't feel talking about it. I just want to listen to it. And I also don't spin my songs like dj does. I just set my player in "shuffle" mode.

here is no life without music. but having said that, I don't usually listen to music on the radio these days. I hear music on t.v. shows and commericals. I have my collection of cassettes and records and a few cds but I don't listen to them as often as I should. But whenever I feel like listening to my favs , they are just a tape or record away. There is no life without music.

Hi richiem have a nice day to you my friend, for me music sometimes is important and sometimes not so important. It is because sometimes I don't like to hear music and sometimes I do. Maybe its just the way we look things differently, I mean If you love music all the way then you really a music lover but for the person like me I think I'm defferent.

I would agree with you on that. If someone would like music, he must really like music all the way and won't find a time hating music. That may be the line that separates music lovers and music likers. I don't think there was some time when I hate listening to music, so maybe I love music. But I don't think I love music that much that I won't be able to reach without it. I consider myself an in-between.

Hi richiem, yes you are definitely right you are a music lover. I consider myself as a music love too but not that much. I can still be in the place where their is no music, but the music or sound that I want to hear is the sound of the ocean and the sound of the rainforest.

Nope, music is not an important part of my life.. I can do without it, but not silence.. I will prefer quiet than music because i can concentrate better.. The only time i will listen to music is when i'm running for long distances.. If not, it will be the time when i'm really really bored, then i will listen to music.. Other than that, i will prefer silence..

Of course! Music is very important to my life and as i can see, it is in yours too. Music provides rhythmn to what I am doing. It provides mood and it energizes me. Rock and roll perks up my morning so that's why i turn to it the moment i leave the garage to set straight to work. I will then shift to slow music during traffic to calm my nerves. Music enhances my emotions, especially when you hear songs that reminds you of the good ol' days!

Looks like you know how to use music to your advantage, listening to the type of music that would suit the time of the day and the mood. For me, I just listen to the same sounds all day. I don't care if it repeats over a lot of times. It doesn't bore me. Sometimes I don't notice what music is playing because I am engrossed in work but I still like to hear it.

Music is part of my daily life. It is good for our soul I think. While driving in traffic it gives us entertainment while we have to deal with all the traffic. It makes that long road trip more bearable. It is just good to sing along.

I also like listening to music while in traffic. It makes us bore less and we can put our minds on other things than the traffic. I think music makes our life easier and more enjoyable. It eases our daily problems and makes it more bearable. Have a nice day!

I listen to music while I am on the computer and while doing housework. The time seems to go by so much quicker when I am listening to music. It seems to help my mood stay good a lot also.

I like listening to music when doing some chores too. It's like you are not doing chores and you are only dancing to the music. Or sometimes if the songs are mellow, it feels like you are doing an music video of it and not really doing something that is tiring. Have a nice day!

Wow, you have songs that you really like! I like the way you called them, "happy songs". I like different songs at different times. The songs I like when I was in high school are not the songs I like now. And not all the songs that I like are happy songs. I think my choice of songs are a little unique. I want my songs to be unique. Like I want to hear the songs from Regina Spektor.

I call them happy songs because they bring back happy memories or just make me feel happy.
Songs by the Beach Boys are happy songs and remind me of the summers of my youth, when I had no fears, no problems, etc.
Being an adult, we have worries, have been through pain and loss and this just brings me back to the times before that.

I love music and have different playlists for different moods I'm in. As well, I associate certain songs with certain periods of my life, so listening to music can really take me back in time. So when I listen to these songs, it's like listening to a lyrical memory box. Listening lyrics can make me happy or sad or mad or pensive. Music plays a huge part in my life and emotional being.

I think somehow our choice of songs evolves. There are always new songs coming out and a lot to choose from to be our favorites. I think this is important because our choice of songs marks certain periods of our lives. And thus when we hear some songs, it brings us back to the time where we love that song. And it brings back our memory of that time.

the same exact thing happened to me and i know the feeling. on my laptop i had the perfect collection of music (perfect for me) all the bands i love listening to, all my favorite songs. 15GB of music. Then one day my laptop hardisk crashed because of some reasons still unknown to me. I got the feeling of being less organized and being more irritable. Music does play a big part in my life(not only mine but a lot of people out there, im sure). It keeps me happy, calm, helps me concentrate for example: while at work im always listening to music on the computer, it somehow helps me concentrate in getting the work done. Its the same with studies.

15GB of music, that is a lot! and you lost all of it?! I don't know how I can survive that one. It really would be a change of life losing those collection of songs. And to think that you spent a lot of time collecting and downloading those songs to your laptop.

I also listen to music as my background when I am in work and when I am posting in mylot. It makes me think more smoothly. It makes me think more organized. We can live without music, but I think living without music is somewhat sad. There will always be a way like for example the nature would create music from ordinary things like the leaves. Like, the nature will sing.

Music is a very important part of my life and although I like many different kinds of music I have certain types of songs I like to listen to at different times. I have music on when I sleep most of the time but there are certain songs that, even though I like them, I don't want to listen to when I'm asleep for one reason or another. For instance I like classical music but it gets on my nerves if I'm trying to do something because I'd prefer to be able to devote my full attention to it and if I'm busy its more of a distraction so I prefer to listen to classic rock. At night I like 60's R&B and some of the 70's rock or country.

There are times when I want to listen to music when I am asleep and there are times when I don't. I also don't know why. Maybe it has something to do with my mood or feeling. Or maybe it has something to do with the music I am hearing. Some music can be bothering even if they have soft tunes.

Hi! i cant live with out my music, for me its really mood orientated too and my music collection is quite broad. from musicales (les mis, cats, hair), to pink, to Leona Leweis (sorry if i spelled that wrong!!) to metallica. it can pick me up, make me stronger, make me cry or help me relax. so for me, its very important.

I need to listen to music every day, its a huge part of my life when I hear a song I like I need to get it I then make sure I learn all the words to that song thanks to my nifty 'lyrics plugin' for windows media player I cant help but to sing to every song, and since I enjoy writing song lyrics myself it gives me inspiration when listening to my idols and other artists I like

That is also what I do when I really like a song. I search the net for its lyrics then I copy paste it to word document and then I print it. That way I would easily memorize it and sing it every time I remember it. I like memorizing lyrics of the songs I really like, makes me feel like a fan of that song. It's really good to hear music, I think. It makes me feel more light.

I don't really know the songs you are talking about but I guess they really are good songs. Why? Because these songs made you feel that music is a very important part of your life, even more important than food, air and water. Which makes music a necessity in your life. I also think that music is really a good companion. It is with us when we are down and also there when we are happy.

Good luck on your guitar and vocal lessons. I guess you really are to be a musician some day. I really admire people like you who have the courage to pursue their dreams and their passion. Music, I think, is a good passion to have. My passion really is writing poetry but I cannot pursue it because there is no real money in there.
