Can a woman start a career at 45?

As a mature graduate from university, can I start a new career at 45 years of age? Are my prospects limited to teaching? My friend says; " you can't teach an old dog new tricks".

she can. but you must be very well aware what is the current trend in the field you want to take as career. there are some jobs that may not take application. try some private company jobs.

I only want to be a researcher within the media industry. I'm loathe to work for a company to make the owner rich.
