Mistakes on MyLot

I just did it again for the second or third time since I've been here on myLot. I clicked on the wrong person to award the BR to and I feel terrible about this. There were a couple of other people whose responses were infinitely more superior. Now I am thinking of addressing this issue with admin because I know that I am not the only one it's happened to.I went to make a comment on the response and it took me back to the next one, so, without realizing my error until it was too late I clicked on someone else's name for the BR. Has this ever happened to you? What, if anything, did you do about it? I'm curious.

I did exactly that, Shaun, and I don't know if it will change anything here on myLot, but all we can do is try.

I have never contacted the admin. before but I have contacted the person I meant to give the BR to and told them of my mistake.

It has happened a few times in the past sweetheart and is so easy to do! I have to admit that I just chalked it up to another mistake and left it at that but perhaps there is something that could be done to make it harder to give out the BR by accident! xxx

Thank you, mummymo. Some of the responders are beginning to make me feel like a dimwit, but I don't believe that any of us are perfect. Even though I could not undo what I had done I still sent a PM to the person that should have received the BR and explained. I hope that made them feel better because it did me.

I know it is ultimately our responsibility, manu, but I do feel that myLot could help us out a bit here.

When i am going to mark the best response, i will go through all the responses, and fine tune, and if i found more than one is good, i will fine tune the one out of two and mark the same as Best Response.
and also i never marked so far, the wrong one, may be after marking the some of the good response i am not resopnsible for the same, since i have wait for some time, if i get this respose before marking the best response, i will defenatly mark that as best one..
I used to mark the Best response at frequent interval, in mylot. i will not accumulate for the same for very long times..
Soon i got the good response, i will mark the B/R, in case if i found that i can wait for some more time, and waiting for the some more responses..
But you dont feel much about that incident, leave it, you will be caution when you mark the best response in the next time.. ensure twice before mark the same, to avid such things..
All the very best..

I rarely find it difficult to choose the response I like best, chennai, I just need to be a bit more careful.

The BR(best response) is the rating you give to the person whose response you liked most when you are closing out your discussion, psalm1. It means their response was better than the rest.

Yes, subha, since this person usually gives very wise responses to my discussions I will just have to consider this in the future.

I haven't committed such mistake yet and hope i wouldn't. Usually i read again the response which i most like and after i read again, that's the time i rate it as best response. I don't think one can correct such mistake anymore so just be careful next time.

Yes it has.. and it is so annoying..I get so mad at myself...I wish we had more editing tools..I did report my issue to ML..but really didn't expect an answer..
I did PM the person that I thought had the best response and told them my dilema...it didn't give them any credit..but it may have provided them with some personal satisfaction..

I did the same, rx4life, because I believe we should always try to rectify a mistake if possible. I have gotten to know this person pretty well and feel that she will be understanding.

No, I have never had this to happen. I am very careful about looking to see if I am on the right discussion or response before I type anything or hit any buttons as I don't want to goof. I know that we can delete a mistake that we make so I try my best to be careful.

I am usually very careful, carolscash, when it comes to everything on myLot because I know that it is most often "written in stone," but I do think we all make small mistakes sometimes.

Yes this has happened to me before. It really bugged me at first. So, like you, I started a discussion about it. A wise myLotter suggested that I just look at it like the person who received it was given a little blessing for the day.... and it is never a bad thing to be a blessing in someone's life.

I hadn't thought of it that way, makingpots! Now I can stop beating up on myself.

That hasn't happened to me yet, but I'll make sure I pay attention more closely. It's one minor slip up. I know that you meant well, but this kind of stuff happens. So what did Mylot have to say about the mistake? Also, did you contact the person that you had originally planned to give the BR to? I think you should let them know, just so you'll feel a little bit better.

Yes, xdrowninghavocx, I did PM the person who should have received the BR and explained what happened to them. I also contacted admin but have not heard back from them yet.

Another responder suggested the same thing, jer, so maybe if myLot has their listening ears on they will take note of this.

Just take it one day at a time, JadeFantsy, because there's a lot to learn on myLot.

That has happened to me before, although it has been a while. I think, if I remember correctly, I might have gone to that person's page and made comments on a few of their articles.
I guess another way that you might kind of help them out is maybe go through and read their responses that they have made on other people's articles. Then you could (if called for) add some pluses to their ratings.
I'm not sure if this would help. But it's just a little something you could do.

I did PM the person to let them know how much I appreciated their response, kykidd, and made sure they were aware that but for my mistake the BR would have gone to them.

This hasn't happened to me before. I am still really new to this. But I have made errors when I am responding or starting a discussion, you know typos. That sucks because you can't go back and correct those either. I feel that probably selecting the BR is also the same way. I guess that once you do anything on here you cannot go back and change it, no matter what it is you are doing her on mylot.

In the case of errors, schulzie, you can always use the comment section if you want to clarify or correct something you've said.

although you felt happy if your post is denoted as best response but if i am not chosen i won't dismay. anyway, all members don't know that you made mistakes. so be sure, you must be careful in choosing the deserving individuals so that it will goes through the correct one. in my case, i will see to it that i choose the right one.
