Do you hand wash your clothes?

These days, washing machines are becoming a necessity. Some go to laundry shops to have their laundries done of have it cleaned by other people. Our washing machine is broken so I have to do our laundry manually though I do hand wash white clothes and my little baby's things since some stains are not cleaned by the machine. Some delicate clothes are not also to be machine washed. Some people don't even want their clothes machine washed, even their jeans because they believe that machines could damage their clothes or have their clothes easily get old and faded. How about you? Do you still do your laundry manually or you just rely on the machine?

Mine it depends, if I'm on the mood to do the laundry I'll just do it manually and use my hands since its also faster and more clean. But when I'm in a lazy mood, I used washing machine especially those bedsheet covers. My friend and her mom are addict to hand washing there clothes even though they have washing machine they still use there hands since machine doens't clean well and most of the time will damage your clothes.

hi chrysz! i prefer my clothes to be hand-washed. i do not believe in the cleaning power of a washing machine and it doesn't have the mind to be careful of the clothes it washes. i can wash my blankets, pillow cases, bed covers, and jeans in the washing machine but not my clothes. i have lots of clothes that need careful washing so i prefer to hand wash them. and i agree with you, there are some stains that cannot be removed by the washing machine no matter how long you turn its dial. i used to wash my own clothes when i was still a student. i think there was only one time when i paid for my laundry. now that i have work and less free time, i pay someone to do my laundry, hand washed. but i still wash my own underwear.

i'm a washing machine girl through and through. i wash everything i have with the washing machine. even clothes with hand-wash only labels are dumped in the washing machine. so far no harm has come to any of my clothes. in fact, most of my clothes have been worn for years without showing any signs of wear and tear. i don't think i can wash my clothes as clean as the machine does so i won't try. it also saved me a lot of time so that i can do other more pleasurable things. cheers ;p

Since my washing machine broke, I do most things at the laundry place or at home by hand washing. It's not such a big deal. I used to have to handwash all my baby's diapers. That's the ultimate test of a mother's love. But it was my joy to take care of my baby's little needs. They were not such great needs, but it's something she needed from me. So, I was more than happy to provide her with clean hand washed diapers! Be well. Thanks for the very interesting discussion. Have a good day.

dear chrysz I think now a days due to introduction of washing machine no body goes for hand wash. I am also using washing machine for the following reasons such as it is less consumption of time, use of less detergent. But at the same time I also advocate for hand washing as there are certain clothes like bed sheet , jene pants etc. which I think better to do hand wash as machine is not able to wash all these lengthy & heavy clothes. In generally I do not go for laundry unless until washing machine is out of order or b/down. pkc3000

I am using the washer right now. When I was first out on my own I didn't have a washing machine. So many of my things were hand washed. Now with my family and the amount of clothes we have between us,I couldn't imagine it. I don't think The skinon my hands would be in good shape if I washed by hand. Luckily I do not have to.

Hi Chryz, I have been machine washing all my heavy clothes. Except for some sarees like cotton or chiffon material I use washing machine for washing. I have an IFB with me. So I have not had any trouble washing in it. It is easier too. Mostly what we have are cotton clothes and synthetic ones. I refrain from putting my cooton sarees in the machine becaus4e I will have to starch it all over again. It gets very limp and I do not like it.

I do my laundry in a washing machine. I have never been one to worry about my clothes getting ruined in the washing machine and they never have...except for this one time I had a bra that came out of the wash that looked like an animal had eaten it lol. I still don't know what happened to that bra... Anyway, I feel your pain, though. I have been there before, doing clothes by hand in the bathtub because the washing machine was broken. I don't miss those days. Luckily, I have a pretty new washer now, I think it's about 2 years old.

I still handwash my clothes. I don't have a washing machine yet, as I think handwashing does preserve the colour of clothes.

Hi chrysz, I do hand washing for underwear especially the white one. Then also some blouses that are super delicate, I am more confident that I will not damage it..LOL! Some of the rags that needs to be brushed, I'll do it manually! I am also washing manually our tennis shoes and slippers. So, in a week, it is very usual to see me washing outside!

We used to do our washing using the washing machine, but ever since we got a maid a few years ago, we have switched to doing hand wash. Somehow the maids we hire are not so accustomed to using the machine and prefers to hand wash the clothes, as they will be cleaner that way. We are fine with that as long as the clothes get washed and ironed.

I guess I am just fortunate that we found 3 dependable helpers to do the hand washing. Back when we did not have a stay in helpers, we have someone who goes to our house to wash and iron our clothes twice a week. Hand washing is different than machine washing. Clothes base on comparative observation is cleaner when hand washed.

we use the machine to wash our clothes but since not all dirt are removed for the white ones, we usually hand wash them after washing it in the machine twice. we just want our clothes to smell and feel clean that's why we got used to doing that even if it is very tedious.

Hi, Since the time when i am out of my hometown i used to wash my clothes manually, however at my home i used to wash my clothes in Washing Machine, I really like to wash clothes (it doesn't mean that i will yours: JUST JOCKING). And after that for my future i had to go out of my hometown for further studies and job as well, so over there i have to wash my clothings manually. Bye.
