Foot Bridge

This is in an area known as Boom Island Park about one
mile North of Downtown Minneapolis Minnesota along the Mississippi River. The scenery here is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. But the mosquitos are horrendous this
time of the year along the water. This foot bridge crosses
a little creek coming off the Mississippi River and the
path along this creek and the river is about 3 miles
round trip. I have walked this many times. Each time I
do I see new critters and wildflowers in the park. It
is so relaxing to sit listening to the critters and
birds and the rush of the fast moving Mississippi River.
Do you have a favorite path/park that you enjoy walking in for relaxation etc?

I enjoy these quiet paths as much as you do, Grandpa Bob. I have no special places thou. Just anywhere that is quiet so I can relax and listen to the birds sing and other critters making their way around on the ground and in the tree canopy.

That's a shame. But anywhere peaceful and quiet is great
to listen to natures sounds. Even ones own back yard.

That is beautiful. I do have a favorite park. I live near Niagara Falls, NY and we have this little island in the Falls called Goat Island. It is always just beautiful to walk through. It's usually quiet and relaxed. At one end you can go right up to the side of the Bridal Falls. It has a great view and I just love going there.

I have heard of Goats Island. You should post some phots and do a discussion about that area near you. I would love it as I am sure many other members here would love seeing the falls and the parks etc. Maybe even a shot of the Maid of the Mist cruise ship there for tourists.

That is beautiful. There is a park near here that I like walking it. It has some beautiful old trees and a natural mineral spring..use to be 4 (I think) but most of them dried up. As far as nature goes though my back yard is full of that. The woods are just a few feet from the house and full of trees, bushes, weeds, and wild animals.

What a beautiful place. You're very lucky to have such a spot to go and reflect. I'm finding the bugs very bad this year, do you have blackflies where you are?

I do not have a favourite place where I live, no. Where I live there are not many nice places to walk too! But the place that you are talking about sounds absolutely lovely!

I actually live in a rather pretty garden apartment complex called El Dorado Gardens and to walk alongthe sidewalks here
'you see umpteen differetn trees and shrubs and types of housing in one huge complex. there are about two hundred families living
here and we have single story apartments, two story condos, one story apts with patios, just a conglomerationg of styles and trees and shrubs and flowers. really quite attractive here.

We used to have a fantastic park, called Krutch Park, where I always went to eat on my lunch hour.. It had meandering paths usually ending in a circular area with a few well placed benchs to sit and enjoy the park.. I always went there on my lunch hour along with my sandwich and a good book, which I enjoyed tremendously.. At Christmas time it was decorated in a way that took your breath away, not only did I eat my lunch in the cold at the Holidays, but we went to visit at night when the lights were turned on, it was breathtaking.. I haven't been there since I lost my job in 1992 except at Christmas, but it has been changed so much that it is not the same anymore.. I really do have great memories of my lunch hour in Krutch Park, I wish everyone could have seen it as I did..

I live in a city type environment surrounded by tall apt. buildings...but walk away a few blocks and it's a different world....private homes with GARDENS..something you would love..LOL Many a time I've loaded up my camera gear and would walk all along that one area, having a field day photographing...I get my "bliss" that way like my soul has been rejuvenated --my I sound poetic don't I...LOL

When I was a child, we always had a favorite
park that we would go to. There were so many
wonderful trails and even ponds.
It wasn't a playground park, but a nature
preserve.
Such a wonderful experience to commune
with nature and view the animals
in their natural environment.
Thanks for sharing the lovely stories
with us and pictures, too.
Be well!

Here in Texas most people think of flatlands but i live in the best area of texas..you would never know it is texas with all the pretty trees and rivers!
In My town is the main attraction called The San marcos River and it runs into the colorado river so its long and all Summer long its full of tubers (inner tubes with people in them) and canoes and rafters..it looks like a scene from any movie with the trees and such like down in the bayou..the water stays 75 all year round and is perfect!

Wow, that's amazing. I often go trekking to a National Park, nearby, called Shenandoah National Park. It's very much like Boom Island Park, filled with greenery, animals, insects, and almost any wildlife you can imagine.
