When you "borrow" money, do you always give it back ?

Now I am not talking about a large amount of money here. I mean if you are at work and you are short some change for the vending machine and you ask a co-worker for some change. Do you ever return it (either the next day or as a return the favor) ? Or are you one of those people that don't "borrow" but take. I thought I had money for the machine yesterday, but all I found was a $10 bill. I asked my co-worker for change for a 10 and she asked me what I needed and gave me $1.25 for my bagel because she didn't have it. I later found $1.25 in change and tried to give it back to her. She said.. "don't worry about it.. just return the favor"
Are you a returner.. or a keeper?

I definitely return money when I borrow it. I rarely borrow it though, pride seems to get in the way.

Hi,
I seldom borrow money from people and if I borrow, I will return it. It is not good to borrow money from people and not returning back their money, I will feel uncomfortable and I will keep on thinking of it. ![](/Content/images/emotes/lol.gif)

I always return any money that I lend, but to be honest with you I do not lend money. It is the fastest way to get into trouble! I learnt that at an early stage in life. I have lent money from people before and then found it really hard to pay back which then causes problems for everyone!

Yes, I give it back. No matter what, I always give it back. That way no one feels like I am taking advantage of them.

I return any little amount of money. It weighs on me until I do. I must have an overabundance of guilt I think. I'm one of the ones who would do what your co-worker did and just give you the money for the bagel if I had it. I don't do this all the time, but I wouldn't expect much in return. That being said, I do like what she said, "return the favor". It gives you something to give back and you're not in her debt.

well, i do take from frens when i am short of money and change but i give it back and yes within a day..somehow i dont like the idea of taking money frm someone n not returning back immediately. So which means i am off to the ATM or get my own change and return it before i forget. While some frens take money from me but fail to give it back and sometimes its so awarkd to ask back for it and its an embarassing situation...never to lend them again in future

I don't like asking for money that is owed to me unless I REALLY need it.. and sometimes not even then. I don't think its embarrassing necessarily.. just.. like you said awkward. So I will usually ask to "borrow" from that same person.. it makes it seem a less awkward way of asking for your money back.

when I borrow money with my friends or collegues , I will return it back the next day itself, only then I feel comfortable, we should remember one thing the other person will give you the money by trusting you and we should be able to keep their trust, next time in case if we have any problem they will come forward to help us and they will not hesitate to give the money because they are very confident that this person will return the money in a day or when ever he have ...

Most of the times I do try to give back the change that I borrowed but they say the same thing: "It's no problem. That's just 5 pesos or 20 pesos." But my friends are always asking change from each other so as long as it's not above 50 pesos, its' cool if you don't pay us back. Just give us change if we ask for it and you have one. That's how close we are. We only borrow money from each other.![](/Content/images/emotes/lol.gif)

of course, if you say you're borrowing, you really should honor your word because people are just picking up money on the street right..? hehehe..
I sometimes borrow with my friend who lives in my building as well. If we go out buying something then I'm short, I use to borrow and will promise to pay when we get to our building. And I really honor my word. It's one way people would trust you the next time.![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

Hi dizzblnd,I do borrow money if I have no other go and I use to pay it as soon as possible .But my close friends will never take back money if i had borrowed as she says that there is no formality between us.I think your co-worker is has also told so in that manner.

I hate to borrow anything. If I do I get it back as soon as I can. Don't know if it is a feeling of guilt or what. Conversely, I hate when people ask me to loan them money. I don't like loaning people things I need or use often. I don't know why it is but it has always been this way.

I have a friend who would always borrow my carpet cleaner and then keep it for a month or more. The last time she asked to borrow it I told her it was broken. I haven't heard from her in a while.. that's when I realized I was being taken advantage of. I don't like that

I have experience for a number of times when I return excess money that was given to me or when I returned the money that I borrowed. I don't want any person to talk at my back and say something bad about me, that's why I do what I must do and that is to give back what I have borrowed or returned excess change from vendors. Conscience also strikes me each time I commit a wrongdoing.
