Should I respond back or comment back?

I am having this question in my mind: which is better to do when your friends responded to your discussions -- respond to discussions they have started or comment on the responses they have made? Responding back is more rewarding in terms of earnings because not only you will earn but also your friend. While in commenting back, no earnings is increased (I think). the argument that is in favor of commenting back is it builds better discussions and better friendships. Some says discussions are a two way process and always needs feedback. But since both takes the same amount of time to undertake, I am thinking of focusing more on one activity over the other. So, my friends, which would you like me to do? Respond back or comment back? Would you hate it if I won't comment back on your responses?

I don't really think about it. If it interests me to respond back, I do. I feel that you should do what you feel like doing, at the moment, and not consider if earnings are involved. Things will be as they are meant to be!!

I have to admit that I do get a little offended if people do not comment back to my response to them. However, if you do respond to me in one of my own discussions I Will not feel so bad. I do agree with your first responder in saying that we get money for everything done here. I think, however, that it is more sufficient in some cases to respond back to that person's own discussion or to comment back with a lot of wording and maybe make a bit of light conversation. Have a Great day.

Just do what you want.. either post a comment or reply to someone's post that caught your attention. For me, if the discussion is fairly new to me but, I could say something, I'd post it up. If there are already a number of posts, I might read a few posts from those who have already participated and in case my reply would still be new compared to those that have already participated, I'd post mine too in that discussion. Depends on the discussion too if it really triggers

I think it just depends, because I agree that you get paid for everything you do on mylot, but if you can write more as a response on a discussion they have started then you should do that because you make more money and so do they, but if you can write more as a comment on a response then you should do that, because it might not be as much money, but it still helps, and It kind of bothers me when people do not comment back on my responses.

I am glad you liked my advice, and I hope it helps you, and I think it does follow the policy, the longer your posts the more money you make, and its cool that you do not comment back to me all the time,I understand running out of things to say, because I find myself running out of things to say sometimes too, have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting my friend.

that is a very great advice. I think i should also do that. I would respond if have a lot to respond about and comment if I have a lot to comment about. In that way, my post would count more. They say the longer your post is, the more earnings you will have. So I guess your advice follows that policy. I am sorry if sometimes I don't comment back on your responses. It's just that if I can't have anything to say anymore, I don't comment back. I hope it is ok with you. Have a great day!

You are right, commenting will not increase your earnings but will increase the interactivity. every one will be happy to get a comment for their response. Its not necessary to comment to all the responses. we are not getting any money out ot it. I will not hate you if you won't comment on this response. I know how difficult is to comment back to all responses. I am also one like you.

I don't think thay for all the comments. I had started a discussion one week ago which had 46 responses and i have commented about 40 to them. but still i got only 32 cents that day. this was that discussion, check it http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1559249.aspx

That seems cool. So I have to make a detailed comment of about 3 to 4 sentences to make it count on my earnings. Well, if it worked for you, maybe I'll do just that also. Seems like you have this figured out. Your responses are enlightening.

That i didn't know. I thought only responses make me pay so i usually write more for responses and less for comments. I should now check this by commenting with more sentence, right.

i guess bothlike you said building friendships here begin in the interactions we make to our fellow members/friends..so respond and add comment is the best..that is regardless of the earnings..

Hi richiem, I always try my best to do both. It depends on my mood most of the time which one to deal with first. Sometimes I respond to the interesting discussions of the responders who have replied my discussion. Or sometime I might leave comments on the responses I have receives and then would pick the topics I am interested from their discussion during my spare time. Anyway I prefer to pick interesting posts from the responders of my discussions followed by interesting topics from friends’ discussions, discussions with no responses etc. I will start a new discussion only when I have finished adding 80 percents or so comments of my discussion.

I do both... i respond to the discussions my friends make... although for those who start at lot... i chose only 1 or 2... and i make it a point to comment to all responses to my discussions... although the comment doesn't add to our number of post... i believe we are still being paid for them... i learned that when Crash made his first appearance... and i still earn even if i only comment to responses to my discussions...

We do earn from active participation here in myLot. That includes starting our own discussion and responding to discussions started by other people. Of course uploading images also help us earn extra. While we do not really earn by commenting on responses made by other people, I still find it fun making comments. I mean, if there is a need for me to comment, I go out of my way to comment. I wouldn't really hate it if people do not comment back on my responses. But I would appreciate it much if they do.

Normally i will do both.. If the discussion i've responded allowsa me to comment, i will comment.. BUt sometimes, they will choose to close the topic just after the 1st respond from the person.. So it's up to the person who started the discussion, whether they allow any more comments.. As for the discussions i started, normally i will want to have more comments, but in the end it always end at the 1st respond too.. lol

hmm ... I think I would put myself on their shoes and think how they would hope from responding someone's discussions. so far I always try to make their discussions as my first priority to post back. so basically when someone posted a response towards my discussion, I would check the user's profile page to see whether there was any discussion of the user that I had missed and I could respond to, especially when I got no notification about his / her new discussion (for example if this user wasn't in my friend list). I think that way, I would show appreciation towards the user's attention on spending his / her time in responding my discussion. And later, when I really had no more new discussion I could respond to, I would get back to my own discussion and start commenting back to their comments, especially if I had more words or some conclusion from what they posted in the responses. That's what I have done so far. To make sure they know that I also appreciate their own discussions.

Hello Richie, this is one of MYLOT Don'ts: Thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings.' So I would prefer you to response to my discussions if I have one or give me a rating in a discussion that you see me in.

I say do whatever you want! If you thinking commenting is best, go for that. If you want to respond? Do that. Just the fact that you're making an effort to reply to me makes me feel good!

There are many many of us here who have also pondered the same question, and then wonder which is the best to do here. There are definate advantages to both, but if one pays more then I feel it is easier to respond back to others discussions here and hope for the best from there. I know for me, when someone responds back to one of my discussions, a lot of the time, I will go in and respond back to them, and then at the same time, I will go and check out and respond back to one of their discussions they might have started to try and help them out as well. Problem is sometimes my time on here is limited so those days I have to decide which is more important for me, and go from there. Just my thoughts.

I like to have real conversation with other people. I just respond to interesting discussions and I start a new discussions only if I have time to comment to all responds. Life is like a river...giving is receiving.... I always answer to at least 50 discussions before I start new discussion on my own.

I like to respond to discussions made by people who are not my friends. I find that many will want to be my friend in this way which is good. I always check my friends' discussion and if I find that they have lots of responses then I am happy and focus somewhere else. I want to spread the discussion to as wide a group as possible. I seldom start discussions now but if anyone responds to my discussions I always comment back.

i give comments to most of the responders in my discussions. that is to give them appreciation for participating in mine, and also to let them know that i have read and acknowledge their responses. to the discussion started by my friends, i try to give my best to give responses. if i think i have nothing to say or if i feel that i can't relate to his topic, i read and leave nothing...
