So, as kinda a way to get to know the people here on mylot better, I am starting this discussion. I want to know what kind of pooch is your favorite, I personally have quite a few favored breeds. I love Samoyeds, they are beautiful dogs, loyal, kind, smart, loving. I also like Siberian Huskys, they are georgeous dogs, and have great traits that I look for in a dog. I love Rottweilers, they are big and safe, loving, gentle, usually big clutses that don't realize how huge they are, but I love rottweilers! I also love mutts, all mutts, any mutt... They are usually dumber than full breed dogs, not always, but I still love them just the same, you get the best traits of two or more breeds all rolled into one! So, what are your favorite dog breeds?

Twice in my life -for too short ten years each- I had the pleasure and the honour to share my life with a Saint Bernhard dog. The gentleness and noble character contained in 180 pound of weight, makes this breed the one and only for me. Although the experience of loosing them -they have a rather shorter lifespan than other races- belongs to the sadest I know, their profound but unobtrusive loyal affection, their attentive company .... I love those dogs.

I've never own a St.Bernard but I do like them They are amazing dogs with an amazing history. I find it unbelievable that they are able to find people in avalanches and rescue them. They have been doing it for a very long time. They are also beautiful, besides the slobber of course..lol... Another dog I like that are around the same size, actually bigger, are the neapolitan mastiffs. They are beautiful, but huge dogs. They were used to guard castles, I think they are actually the largest breed of dog you can get, and often get over 200lbs. I also like pitbulls, though I've never actually owned one. I've had plenty of friends that have them and they are great dogs when they are raised right. Thank you for your post!

Ok, the slobber. And they make it actually fly! I had to choose between having an immaculate home and having a dogfriend like this. Not difficult to guess what I preferred...

I love so many kinds of dogs it would be hard to list them all. So I guess I'll just choose a couple. I love St Bernards. I adored mine and still miss him. I love German Shepherds. My shepherd Shiloh is like my shadow and is very protective of me. I love Chihuahuas. I have two and they are both loveable and very amusing. As for breeds I don't like - I'm not crazy about Chinese Crested whatevers, or greyhounds, or bulldogs.

Well, I've never heard of a chinese crested whatever...lol... I don't mind greyhounds, I feel so sorry for so many of them. They are used as racing dogs till they just can't do it no more and then they are thrown to the side like a piece of trash or a worn shoe. It's tragic. As far as bulldogs, I've never owned one, I've never really known anyone that owned them besides my fiances father, and his bulldog was awesome. My fiance loves bulldogs, he grew up with them at his father's house, so we'll probably own one someday.

My favorite breed are German Shepards they are gorgeous dogs and they are really smart too. I thin Siberian Huskies have the most beautiful eyes though. I used to have a rotweeiler but they can be tempermental at times.

I never had a problem with my rott being "tempermental" She was old and stubborn as hell but she always behaved herself. She was amazing with little kids too. When we first got her my nephew was about a year old and we had two other dogs, a spaz lab mix named Jasmin, and my samoyed Misty, and Jasmin hit my nephew with her tail and knocked him down. Didn't even bother him but my Rott Dooney wouldn't let the other dogs anywhere near my nephew for the rest of the night. She was always protective over everyone she loved. When I first started dating my fiance he gave me a "love tap" on my butt and Dooney didn't like it so much. She nipped him on the butt with the front of her teeth, left a quarter sized welt on his butt. It was hilarious. Scared the crap out of him..haha. Man I hate going through those memories of her, still hurts so much that she's gone. RIP Exstacy (Dooney)

My little guy is a doxie terrier mix. he is so cute and sweet. He has a big mouth but alot of dogs do. I think doxie terrier or doxie beagle mixes would be my favorite dogs. I like labs and goldens but they get so big. I like a nice lap size doggie.

I like both, I like big dogs because they are good protectors, small dogs just don't make me feel as safe as a 120lb. rottweiler. But I like small dogs because they are adorable and small and fit in my lap...lol... Can't have a rott that's a lap dog.

For me it has to be border collies. I always wanted a border collie and about three years ago my partner brought me one for my birthday it was one of my best presents ever. I also think huskys are lovely they are so loyal and affectionate. But i do love all types of dogs as i am animal lover.

I have never had one. My mother had one growing up and loved it very much but we've never owned one before. Our neighbors had one growing up, his name was buster, and he was fat and lazy.lol... Still a really cool dog though... He'd do just about anything for a treat.

My absolute favorite dog is the labrador retriever--just b/c that was what my dog was. I love their loyalty, their friendliness, their pretty hair, their intelligence, their protectiveness, their playfulness. I also like english bulldogs, which is what I want b/c appearance-wise they are the complete opposite of the lab retriever (I couldn't bear to have another dog that looked my beloved Misha). English bulldogs are short and stubby and on the unattractive side. I also like St. Bernards. I love all big dogs and the small dogs are nice, but I prefer big dogs.
