If you had the money.....

If you had the money to make one home improvement dream come true what would it be? For me it would be to convert my backyard into an outdoon kitchen complete with slate tile floor, poured concrete countertops,a sink, a prep sink, huge gas grill with rotisserie attachment, pizza oven, dishwasher, convection oven, mini fridge and cooling drawer, warming drawer, and beautiful stonework finish. I would leave my fruit trees in the yard and the rose bushes but everything else could go. So what would your dream be?

Too many to name. Honestly my house needs to be torn down and rebuilt completely. I have to replace the roof, I got a quote for $30,000 for the foundation! The yard is crud and I need one of those professional grass folks to come in and lay down some top soil and grass. Then I want to fence in the yard. The house is a 2 family, and I want to make it a 1 family with 5-6 bedrooms and at least 2 bathrooms, perhaps 3 (at least 2 with their own water heater). Unfortunatly at the moment I can't even afford to replace the windows, which I really need to do before winter... so alls I can do is dream.

Depending on where you live there are programs that can help you winterize your house complete with windows. I hope that you can find some of these programs to help you with your house needs.

It's sort of complicated. Being a 2 family house there's little the programs will do for us. There's also some legal issues with the house from about 50 years ago that have to be cleared up. The more I think about it, the bigger a headache I get!

Personally, first we would have to be moved from this place we are trying to sell. Then if $$ were no object, I would Love to find like a 3 bedroom home with a full basement that I could fix up and turn one of the rooms into a Game room, and would Love to have a Hot Tub in the Garage, and a swimming pool outside if I could. This would be the way to go to be able to relax and just kick back when time allowed.

I would say that if I could have our entire basement remodeled, to put in walls, put up my husbands' sound proof studio with a hidden door, and then add a 4th bedroom to our house, redo the bathroom to add a shower in it and make it a 3/4 bath in the basement and then get all new furniture, I would also opt to have it be carpeted in the new bedroom and maybe some sort of tile between the rooms and the laundry and bathroom as it is still a basement! I would get it done ASAP and that would really be great!

I like this question!!! I'd renovate the kitchen first. Id make it really really nice.. but actually, it's my hubby who would really die to make the kitchen really nice. I'd also change the bedroom. Bigger walk in closet, more nice cabinets. Maybe a nice sturdy bookshelves too!

If I had the money , I will not renovate our house but rather I'll buy a new one and have our house rented. Actually, that's one of my goals in my life. I want to have a bigger one unlike the one that we have and a big garden so that our two dogs will have a bigger space to play around with.

I live in an apartment complex so my dream come true would be a washer and dryer of my own but do not know where it would go unless out on the patio which would be okay. I would love to be able to do my washing and drying in my own home, what a lovely dream come true that would be.

I was actually one of the lucky few that when I lived in apartments I only had one that did not have a washer and dryer or washer and dryer hookup.

Tile is much better than carpet. We have tile throughout except in the bedrooms but I would like to time them too.

I'd probably make the house a bit bigger for starters. Not a lot, just a bit so we can have more room to keep the stuff we have. Then, I'd probably work on fixing problems that we already have. We have a lot of bathroom problems that need to be fixed. Once all the improvements are done, I'd want to turn this place into a green home. I'd love to install some solar panels so we could cut down on our energy bill. We use way too much power now and the solar panels would cut our energy bill down by 30% or more depending on how many panels our house could support. I'd also like to work on some major landscaping projects to get rid of a lot of outside clutter and would like to have someone come in and add a lot more blooming plants. And, I wouldn't mind a nice little outdoor oasis either. Some place that we could sit during the evening hours.

Oh I would love to have solar panels installed too. I also want my gutters in the backyard (can't do he ones in front cause of our hoa)equipped with rain collection buckets to use the free rainwater for our garden and for the house plants. We gather our rainwater in a tub with a lid in the garage (we put a pot outside and empty it into our tub).

Hmmm ... the house we've just bought would lend itself beautifully to an all round balcony with french doors from the bedrooms. Unfortunately it would involve dropping a roof by about a foot, which is too expensive a job for us just now. I guess that would be my dream project.

I would build my Mother her own handicap accessible wing complete with Handicap bathroom and a kitchenette (she likes to snack) on to our place. That way she could be away from the kids when she wanted to and be with them when she wanted to.

I would love to renovate my kitchen. I would put in a new floor with in-floor heating (for those cold winter mornings). We would rip out the island and replace it with a bigger one with better storage. I'd love to have a double oven installed, replace the dishwasher with a more efficient and quieter model, and install space savers in all the cubpoards.

My home improvement dream is terrible. I bought this house a few years ago and not too many months after I moved in the toilet downstairs broke and leaked water everywhere. I turned off the water and have never fixed it since I have two other bathrooms in the house. If I had the money I would fix up that bathroom with a new floor and a nice low water usage toilet and fix any problems that may have occured from the water leak that I haven't had money to fix.

LOL...my dream home improvement would be to remove several people and add in a few others! But seriously...the one thing I always wish I could do (if I had a home to do it at) would be to create a playland for the kids. Swings, tree forts, club houses, jungle gyms...just anything that I could dream up that the kids could enjoy. There would also be a "kids' garden" complete with a maze and vegetables they could snack on and flowers to attract butterflies and humming birds. They'd have a big area to paint and draw on (maybe a large concrete pad with a blank white wall on three sides). And this area would have to be near a good sled riding hill for them to use in the winter. Maybe I'd even install some above ground tunnels and domes so they could pretend to be digging tunnels under the snow and building igloos but there wouldn't be the danger of them collapsing. Honestly I could probably go on and on with idea...but that's what I'd love to do. (A little out building/pool house with a hot tub for me would be pretty nice too though!)

Yours sounds so nice. Could I just use my money to come visit you at yours?? I know I will be selling my house for a bigger home soon, so I would just do a few things that would make it easier to sell..... like solid surface countertops throughout the house and some upgrades in the bathrooms.

If I had the money, one home improvement that I would make would be re-building entirely our house and make a bigger and nicer one than what we have. This house could really use some tearing down and re-building. I'd have my mom a garden, a nice kitchen, a huge ref, then several rooms including a "movie room" where my brother and I can have our friends over and watch DVD's and special games, a bar, all the works! That's like my dream house.

I would get a brand new oven that was big enough to bake cakes in. My oven doesn't work now, but I love to cook. I wish that we could get the cabinets refaced and counter tops redone. Plus, maybe a counter top opposite the one I have now to even out the look of my kitchen.

We are putting a little work to our kitchen this fall. I have to recaulk the countertops (when the fire damage was fixed the guy putting in the counter and sink and all did a lousy job it has all pealed away.), repaint a rusty brown color (it is white right now), put in a tin backsplash. But it will be one project at a time.
