How do you feel about thunderstorms?

I grew up in the Midwest, so thunderstorms were pretty much a natural occurrence to me. Then we moved to Seattle, where thunder is exceptionally rare. Right now, however, I'm on the East Coast, and we have been getting thunderstorms on a nightly basis. It's kind of neat to see and hear them again, because it has been more than a year since I've been somewhere with a thunderstorm.
However, I know a lot of people don't like them, and they scared me quite a bit when I was younger. How do you feel about thunderstorms?

I used to be scared with them when I was little but now that I am much older. I am not that scared anymore. We rarely have those here. When I was small my dad would tell me that Saint Peter was rolling a bowling ball above just to not get me scared..lol

I am kinda scared of thunderstorms as well, however my husband LOVES storms! Especially lightning! I have to agree with him, lightning is beautiful, but it's scary too!He loves storms so much, we gave our first child the middle name Storme!! (Dakotah Storme)We live in Indiana so thunderstorms and tornados are very common as you know, growing up in the midwest... Great discussion!

I love thunderstorms and always have. The louder the thunder and the brighter the lightning the more I like it.

Thunderstorms scare the life out of me.
In Trinidad they are rare and don't make the kind of noise the storms in your country make.
When I experience one I go through a scare time you wouldn't believe.
You always think something is going to hit or fall on you.
You get frightened of God and can start praying.
Any explanation of how it happens is of no use. The noise is horrifying.
I much prefer a downpour of rain or a few streaks of lightening.
Don't mention hurricanes.
The wind is like a scream.
I'd die in one just by listening.

I LOVE thunderstorms! The louder and brighter, the better. I don't know why but I have never felt nervous about storms, even when they knock out the power. Of course I hope they don't damage anyone or anything. The church behind my house was struck when I was a child, and I awoke to find my sister had flown into my arms. Then when my kids were little, lightening struck my house and ruined a lot of things. It stripped the bark off our tree, put burn marks all over the hood of our car, blew out the TV, VCR and video games, and ruined our microwave. And still I get excited by every rumble of thunder. My daughter, on the other hand, has been terrified of them ever since. Fireworks shows were a nightmare for the next 3 or 4 years. She went to college in Nashville, some 15 years after it happened, and she had to learn to live with some wild storms. But she definitely doesn't love them.

Yeah I like thunderstorms. I mean sometimes they are scary but it doesn't matter because I just love them. Everytime my younger brother who is eleven sees a thunderstorm he screams and it's really funny. But I like them especially when it's dark outside.

I am a little frightened of thunderstorms as they produce tornados the house I live in does not have a basement is what really scare me. Lightening in the storms can be really neat to watch though.

I'm also from the Midwest. I love a good storm, but my oldest daughter has always been frightened of them. I don't know why. I was always calm about it.
I had a similar conversation with someone last night and I admitted I'm more likely to run outside and watch than run to the basement.

Love 'em! I love it when they're right on top of you and the walls shake. I'd definitely miss them if I moved somewhere where it didn't thunderstorm. It does seem to storm more on the East Coast than it does on the West Coast.

Love them! They are exilirating. Feeling the electrically charge air, the smell, the light show or the formations of the clouds. I use to live in CO in the mtns, on the south side of a valley where these storms would roll thru on their way out to the plains. We would sit on the verranda having sundowners to take in the light show. Wow!

Thunderstorms are very Natural in today's life as there is a huge change in the environment after the Tsunami effect in most of the Countries. The countries which are affected with drought conditions are now struggling with floods and the countries which are having floods problem are now facing drought troubles. The things have been changed very much as nobody have expected.
Thunderstorms are very common in my country and it appears as everyday a thunderstorm strikes the land at some or the other place. You can observe that the thunderstorm appears first before the sound of the thunderstorm because the speed of the light is very much than the speed of the sound.

I love a good storm at night. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean the dangerous ones that cause damage to life and property. But a lively summer storm accompanied by a bit of thunder, ligtening, rain, and wind is a welcome event. It offers natural entertainment, and it provides a welcome watering to my trees, flowers, shrubs, and grass. It lowers the temporature left by a hot summer day. Last but not least, there's the sound of rain on the roof--well, it's a melody to lull the listener into sleep.
