Hey all! I'm interested to know if your taste in music has changed over the years? If it has, what kind of music did you like in the past and what do you like now?

My musical taste has changed, but in some ways it's not really a change, just more of an evolution. I listen to all sorts of music now, that come from the tastes I had previously. When I was a kid, I listened to what my parents listen to. They listened to country and oldies, so until I was about 11 that's what I listened to. When I was 11, my whole musical outlook changed when I started listening to Green Day. Definitely not what my parents listened to! I also began to listen to grunge music, like Nirvana and Pearl Jam at that same time. My cousin was 3 years older than me, so she kind of got me into all that stuff and bands like Nine Inch Nails. Then in the late 90's I got into the pop thing. I loved boy bands and all the pop stars like Britney, Christina, Jessica Simpson and Mandy Moore. Then I kind of got into the pop punk thing and listened to like Good Charlotte, Mest and Simple Plan. Now I pretty much listen to everything. For the last 5 years or so my taste has been all over the place. I listen to all the stuff I used to like, pop, pop punk, country, oldies whatever. I love pretty much any kind of rock (except some of the crappy nu-metal stuff) especially dancy rock music (like Kill Hannah, Placebo, The Faint). I still love some of the bands I grew up listening to like Nine Inch Nails. I go to tons of concerts and go with an open mind to try and find more new music to enjoy.

Thank you! Our environment, friends and trends many times affect on our taste in music. In the end we choose what is the best for us. Have a good day!

Yes my taste has changed drastically.Back when i was in school and before that i was crazy about all the famous boybands and briney spears.I find that i loved the things that i don't like now back then.So iys crazy.I listen to a variety of music now but i don't like pop much. Also rap i feel is kinda cliche. So i don't like that either.I don't mind hip-hop,rock and jazz.I think as i'm growing older my taste is getting better or more matured.

Hello! I liked this kind of music too when I was young. In fact, I know a lot of people who liked boybands when they were young but when they grew up it passed. Thanks.

My musical taste has fluctuated over the years from heavy to more elaborate. I use to only like rap, and then I only liked heavy rock like Korn, System of a Down, Snot, and then I began to accept all kinds of music. Now my music is well spread out. I like everything from DMX, to Tool, to Clapton, even a little TV on the Radio. I think as we grow older we become more accepting of what sounds good to the ears instead of just social trends.

I think exactly like you. As we grow up we know better what sounds are good to us and not the trends on the radio. Thank you!

I still like the music I liked back in the day but I keep finding more genres I like too. i just saw El Cantante and now I like Salsa. A few years back , I saw Hustle and Flow and I got to appreciate hip hop. And it has been about a decade since I really gave Opera a try.so now I guess it is only Hootie and the Blowfish and Wilson Phillips I Don't like.

I can't say that my taste in music has changed at all. I like a wide variety of music and listen to everything from the 20's thru the 90's and some newer stuff. I never have liked jazz or opera though.

nope. My taste in music is prety much the same as it has ben all my adult life. i like music and artists from the 80s. I do listen to new music as well, but pretty much the same kind of music. But then again I do not think there has been giant changes in the music since the 80s either

Yes, I can say that it changed. I used to like alternative and rock music but now I like the rnb sounds with catchy beats. And I am drawn into techno music night now.

Yes, it has. I only listened to pop punk rock when I was in high school. So lame. I don't know what the appeal was, lol. But I still listen to Sum 41, The Distillers, and everything like that. But now I'm much more interested in every single genre.

Yes it has. When I was in middle school and high school, I listened to pop rock a lot...basically whatever was popular at the time. I did start liking The Beatles back then. Today, I really only listen to music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I guess people might call me a fogie, even though I'm only 25, but music today has really let me down. There's not a lot of what I would call music involved. I appreciate the older bands because they had more actual musical instruments involved and were really making music. So much of today's music is synthesized and you can really tell.

Well, actually it hasn't changed so much since when I was young. I just addede more stuff to the music I like (I added Klezmer and classical to rock and heavy metal):) D.

In the past well, my interest with music is very limited. I could only listen and appreciate music played on the radio. And I know it sounds crazy but I was addicted to Whitney Houston since I was 5. My mother would let me stand on top of our dining table, hand me a mic and then ill start singing saving all my love for you. haha. now, my interest with music is, i must say, widened. old and new, rock and ballad. and im actually surprised to see myself admire tom waits when i know for a fact that his style is out of my league.

I like all types of music, but it does vary. Every few months, I'll find myself listening to something completely different. I think it's because I don't like everything staying the same, so I constantly move from one type of music to another all the time. Also, it seems as though everything in one type of music starts to sound the same to me so I have to move on.
