What would be your all-time favorite fruit and how do you like to eat it? Mine is a strawberry either in a strawberry pretzel salad or strawberry shortcake !

My favorite fruits in order of preference are: mangoes, watermelon, and kiwi. I love seedless watermelon so you don't have to worry about spitting out/avoiding seeds. I love the slight sourness of kiwi and the sweetness of ripe mangoes. I love love love mango shakes.

I don't actually know how to make mango shakes. And I've only actually had them in the Philippines in restaurants and the mall. They are very good, but I'm not sure how to make them. My mom made tried to make them once at her house, but it didn't work. It didn't taste right. She tried though, she gets an A for effort.

You really should try the strawberry pretzel salad. Its not really a salad but more like a jelatin mold with a pretzel crust and a layer of cream cheese and powdered sugar mixture. It is very good and can be made with frozen strawberries also.

I have never heard to that fruit. Is it sweet or tart? Do they sell it in the US? My interest is totally peaked now :-) Thanks
27 Jun 08
Yes, actually. They sell it in most latin american markets. Like Vallarta Supermarket. I'm not sure if they are through out the United States, but they are a chain here in California. It's a really sweet fruit. When I first tasted it, it was really like no other fruit I had ever tasted. It has a sweet milky tast to it. I found a website that talks about it: Mamey, also called the Mamey Sapote has bark like brown rough skin and is orange inside. It is soft, smooth, thick and creamy. Very popular with Cuban-Americans (mexicans too), it's like a sweet potato and avocado in texture. It has a hint of almond to it and is slightly sweet. It is quite dense and therefore quite filling. It is almost like a sweet potato pie with a dash of almond extract. There is usually one seed and it is smooth, shiny, and dark."

I like apples too but they have to be sour like Granny Smith apples. For some reason I have never been a big fan of sweet ones. My grandmother used to take them and cut out the core and put cinnamon and sugar and some other stuff in them and bake them and then pour cream over the top. I would always eat the stuff in the middle but never the apple...lol

I eat apples raw, but I have baked apples in the past. I think I will do it again. There are certain apples that are especially good for baking. I will look into this more in the late Fall, when the weather is cooler. By the way, I remember that it was quick and easy to bake apples, although I don't recall exactly what I did to bake them. I would have to consult a recipe.

MMMMM MMMMM !! I love strawberry pretzel cake salad . It is a must for many cookouts and parties over the summer . I really dont have a favorite fruit , I seem to like mostly all kinds and like to mix it up . I suppose I like tropical fruits better and I love watermelon and honey dew . Right now I have been craving some pineapple and hope to pick some up next time I go shopping .

Yes it is ! I will be making it atleast 4 times before the summer ends for cookouts. It has become a very much requested dish at our family cookouts these past couple years. My sister had a fresh pineapple this past weekend that she intended to use for mixed drink garnishes, I hate to say it but by the time we finished cutting it up there was none left for the drinks....lol She had to open a can and use that...lol
