Sometimes I don't like raw pears, cause they taste very bitter. Almost green. Apples can taste that way too. I think those pears come from poor soil in a certain regions. Other pears are very sweet and tasty. I have always thought that prunes can be too bitter or too sweet. I like them somewhere in the middle. For me, grapes, oranges, raisins and bananas are sweet. What's the most bitter fruit you've ever eaten? What's the most sweet fruit?

Yummy fruit! - Lots and lots of fruit...I grew up and loved eating fruits, rather than vegetables (most taste). I love my fruits!
Hmmmm....I don't know about the most bitter--Sour Bing Cherries are incredibly sour. I've never had pears, and I haven't had prunes since I was a little girl. To me, pineapple may be the sweetest, or oranges.

It's best when it's fresh; the skin hurts like the dickens, but once you get to the center....mmmm! My mom used to make the best punch with grapefruit juice and ginger ale--I couldn't get enough of the stuff!

I will have to try that! I'm trying all the mom/housewife stuff now and I love those kinds of homemade juices and stuff. Thanks!

Oh,I have never thought that question before. In my impression, all kinds of fruits I have eaten are sweet,if the fruits are bitter, they are must go bad.But I think balsam pears could be the most bitter one if they can be seen as fruit. As for the most sweet fruit,I think fig could be that one,I like it very much.

I don't know about fruit, but I hae had raw peas out of the pod that have tasted extremely bitter. Peas are supposed to be sweet, but every now and then I get a bitter one, and it tastes absolutely awul.

I did not know that peas could be so bitter. I have always liked them, but would stop eating them if I came across even one bitter pea pod. Not good!

The most bitter fruit I've ever tried would have to be a persimmon. My mom claimed that they are delicious, so I tried one. Apparently the one I picked off of a friend's tree was not ripe because when I bit into it, it was bitter, not to mention it left a dry aftertaste in my mouth that stuck with me for a while. At least this is what I remember. After all, it was about 20 years ago. I haven't had any since! The sweetest fruit? There are so many. But I'd have to say mangos, strawberries, cantaloupe, apricots, peaches, watermelon....I could go on, but I'll stop now! LOL

In my experience, the Ampulaya is surely amongst the most bitter fruits of the Planet... It contains a hit of minerals that will tarnish stainless steel, and must be soaked for days before eating. They are called the bitter melon for very good reasons! :) The chikoo is probably the sweetest that I have ever eaten, they are related to persimmons, I believe... but they must be wholly ripened before eating as they contain natural latex, which can be toxic at times.

The most bitter fruit I've had so far? Green apples that weren't ready yet. OMG gross! It was pretty bad. The sweetest I think are Sonya apples, I get them at Super Target only. They're huge and they taste almost like honey on apples, it's a unique taste.

Grapefruit - Is very bitter tasting unless sprinkled with sugar
Grapefruit is the most bitter tasting fruit that I've ever tasted!! Talking about my mouth puckering up!! WHEW! lol But it is good when sprinkled with a little bit of sugar. My dad and I used to eat them all the time when I was a kid.

Hie beautyqueen, first thing that came to my mind was bitter gourd but that's not a fruit. So far I think it's the unripe guavas and green apples. Some unethical fruit sellers here would sell those green guavas and mixed them with the nice ones. So if the customers are inexperienced, they would be cheated eventually. Another one that I had bad experience with is the 'Ciku' fruit that we have here in Malaysia. I have looked it up and it's called - 'Sapodilla' it's a large globose berry fruit and it's one of the sweetest as honey fruit that I have ever tasted and the worse kind of bitterness if it's not ripen properly. Besides that I love the sweetness in the mangoes and persimmons. Cheers,

The most bitter fruit i`ve ever eaten was the grapefruit. Every now and then i never try to eat at all. I know many people likes it but not me... They say when its more ripe they say its too sweet but for me its taste so bitter that makes me dizzy. The sweetest fruit i had was riped mango from Philippines and watermelon from here at North Carolina. Of course I`m proud of Philippine produce that every now and then I`m missing it. Can`t find here in America a mango as sweet as i had overseas. I can say watermelon here in NC is really sweet. I`ve had tried FL watermelon but it dont taste that good. I had some more sweet fruits like grapes, bananas, papayas, pears, cantaloupe, peaches, oranges, apples(red/fuji), strawberries and pineapples. They are all delicious and sweets. Anyways, i just love fruits except bitter ones...
