Have you considered buying a motorbike?

If you drive a car every day and the cost of petrol is sending you broke, have you considered buying a motorbike? They cost next to nothing to fill and run. I've considered it myself, but I think i would be too scared to ride in normal traffic as motorbikes can be quite dangerous to ride.
However, I think if things keep going the way they are regarding the cost of petrol, more and more of us will have no choice but to trade in their cars for a bike. Do you agree?

Just be careful weaving through traffic! If someone decides to change lanes and doesn't see you while you're coming up beside them they'll wipe you out!

I would consider one of the 3 wheel machines on the Market,or in preproduction (The Vandenbrink Carver, the Ventureone, the Myers NMG,or the Aptera) before a 2 wheeler.Stability and weather protection would be a factor in my buying another vehicle.

Well, I have been considering of buying a motorbike since 2 months not because i own a car and want to degrade to a bike just because of rising fuel prices. I don't have a car ..lol
I have been travelling by public transport from my location to the office and its really irritation to wait for a shared auto and to depend upon the public means of transport. I think the cost of travelling by a bike is equal to that by a public transport.
However, i think equally opposite to u as fas as travelling in a crowded place is concerned. First of all, i like travelling in open air and moreover, i find it easy to ride my bike in traffic rather than a car. Its more easier to take your bike out of a traffic jam rather than a car. And if you consider it dangerous, then anyway riding a bike is dangerous either be it in traffic or no traffic.

I was considering it. I had a couple of bikes when I was younger. I sold my Yamaha Enduro when I had my daughter. Yesterday I gave up considering and bought one. I found one just like the one I had and I couldn't beat the price. I figure even with insurance and registration it will pay for itself in what I save at the pump. The prices of bikes have jumped a lot in the last year so I was lucky to find a great deal.

I use to ride on the back of my husbands Harley a few years back, yes the gas is cheap...I have considered a Mopid for right here around town, but we have not been real serious about it..We are however going to purchase a small Toyota or Honda car soon,we want to get one that gets hopefully 38 miles to a gallon..I would not doubt it one bit that people might start getting motorcycles if gas keeps going up...

If I had the money right now, I would buy one of those highway-safe scooters that go up 75mph. As it is, I don't even have enough to put gas in my car.

My fiance wants to get a motorcycle, and he tells me often that the cost of gas would be so much cheaper if he had one. However, his insurance for a motorcycle would be FAR higher than it would be for a car (which is high enough!), so it's not worth it for us.
Luckily, we only drive once a week, twice at the most!

Hi dear
if u r working near by then, its understandable and u can think about it, but again weathers can be obstacle as u r not used to of it.
i work almost 40 miles away from home and i cant think of riding motorbike till that far. so i will pray that fuel gases go down or have alternate cheaper fuel
Take care

I have thought about it. Not only will it help me save on fuel, it also looks fun enough to ride! But I'm a girl and motorbikes are usually for guys. I think I'd have a problem when it rains. The motorbike also doesn't allow for a lot of baggage. I usually keep spare change, water, and an umbrella in my car so i don't really thing a motorbike is practical for me.

well i did consider that as an option but i mvery affraid of motorbike accidents cause i know if i get a motorbike i would be like anyother jerk passing others and changing lanes in a very uncomfortable and dangerous manner.so would rather drive my scooter as its slow and can carry me to my locations easily without any threats to others or myself.

i agreen with you, Motorbike is a little more dangerous than car,but in recently, as the price of gas has been raised so high that it has been a burden driving by car. So choosing motorbike perhaps it's a good idea.

My husband has a motorcycle. We used to carpool together in our VW (Jetta TDi, it gets about 45 MPG, so it's decent) But now that I am laid off, he rides his motorcycle to work because it saves even more gas. He doens't ride it for recreation, it's our "second car" so that I have something to drive if he is someplace else. We are saving a ton on gas now that I am not working, but if I get a job, that will change.

I have considered buying a motorbike before but it was several years ago. Since the cost of petrol has been crazy I have had a child and it just wouldn't work for my lifestyle at the moment. Even in the past when I wanted one, I would not have considered riding it in traffic. I would want to ride it on country roads and in scenic areas.

Hi coffeeshot! I do agree with you my friend! Here in our country, many are now using motorbikes as they are very economical. My husband is also thinking about having a motorbike instead but I am worried about the risk he will be exposed to when riding a motorbike.
Take care and God Bless!

i have thought about it but i want more protection around me. on story that made me think twice was when a man said he was riding his motorcycle down the road and turned on a road that they had just put tar on. he got tar over him causing an accident and severe burns. in a car i wouldn't have to worry about that. i choose a car.
