to visit my parents for a couple of days. I've got everything except the one thing that I will only discover is missing once I get there. In the past it has been hairbrushes razors, shirts (!) underwear, socks, you name it I've forgotten it. What do you forget when you travel that causes one of those "Oh shlt" moments?

Hi P1kef1sh,
I try to pack everything correctly because I always write down what all I need. But suddenly while going out with friends I have forgotten and said Oh Sh** like you say. I once forgot to take my specs with me and I had to sit through for a long time that I returned with a headache.
But befire travelling I make sure I do not forget anything.. I won't be able to buy there because it is a village.. and will not get many of our things.

I always forget something, usually my nightgown. I have zillions of nightgowns now because I always have to go out and buy when when I realize I've forgotten to pack it. Last weekend I forgot my soap and my book. I think there were other things I forgot too, but I don't remember what they were.

Oh, that's not a good one to forget. You usually wont realize it until you are ready to use it, then you have to go out and buy one without having brushed your teeth...

The last time I traveled it was shampoo I forgot. We were staying in a hotel though so it wasn't a problem. Well except for the fact that my daughter can't stand hotel shampoo, she says it's cheap and makes her hair tangle, I was lucky though there was a CVS right across the road so I was able to get her some shampoo she could use.

I think that they do. But my daughter though is one too that her hair tangles easily anyway unless she uses she uses only certain brands.

Did you have a good time with your parents? And what did you forget to take with you this time?
I usually forget to pack something to do when I go away, so I end up sleeping more if the weather is bad or watching way too much television.
Now, I try and make sure something for me to do is the first thing I pack so that I don't end up breaking the holiday budget. Craft shops are so inviting at the best of times.

At least it wasn't a budget breaking item! lol. A good motel and a nice place to eat are what I like. Finding my own fun is what gives me the most amusement.

Hey P1key, have a good time with your parents!! I might be visiting my mum for the night tomorrow so wont have much to pack but even still, it is a nightmare when you forget things. Luckily most things can be replaced.
I once went on holiday and forgot my nightwear but that was because the ones i was taking i was wearing at the time!!! Lesson learnt!! Also my boyfriend forgot his shoes when we went to attend my brothers wedding, luckily we had time in the morning to nip to the shops to find a cheap pair!!!
I always make a list of things that need packing and still forget things. I think it comes natural, you cant go away unless you forget something. Have fun xxx

Thank you Cinders. Fortunately my mum had a new spare one. So you've now got all those old posters, teddies and photos that you always hoped that you could leave there!! LOL. Happened to me about 25 years ago. Last year, my mum insisted that I went up into the loft and took away all the stuff that was mine. All that I found was my sister's old Brownie dress. Not my style and brown does nothing for me! LOL.

I recently went to visit my dad to celebrate his 95th birthday. He is 300 klms away. I was about 10klm away from home when I got that feeling..."I've forgotten something"
I didn't dwell on it because I knew I had all the important stuff cos I had made "Lists"!
Sure enough, I get to Dad's place and the night before his birthday, I'm setting up his cake and some candles and I realise what I forgot...his birthday card! Dad's not fussed on gifts but he loves cards, especially funny ones. To make matters worse...no-one had sent him a card!

hi p1kef1sh!
there's no particular thing that i often forget when i'm going out for a travel or just when i'm going out. but i've had some "oh sh!t!" moments i can remember. one was when i forgot my cellphone. i seldom forget to bring it when i'm going out of the house so its really an "oh, sh!t!" moment for me. also whenever i forget to bring money. that's another "oh, sh!t!" moment. another one was when i forgot my cellphone charger in the office. good thing i have an extra charger back home but i don't usually use it because the case of whatchamacallit (the one end you plug to the electricity outlet) is broken.
my latest "oh sh!t!" moment was yesterday when i forgot to call someone important about our scheduled training and i also forgot to remind my officemate about the training. thank goodness there are cellphones but it could have been a lot easier if i remembered to call the person and remind my officemate.

Hi there p1ke1sh, I am very forgetful so prior packing I always need to have a list of things that I need to bring especially if I am going far or it takes for me to be away for like 2-3 days...IN that way, I am sure that I have everything that I need since I hate to realize later that I left this and that and I need to buy another one or to borrow....I always want not to be forgetful, but maybe this is just really the real me..LOL!
ENjoy your vacation and I know you will have lots of fun!

yup i have. and i always live in fear of them. especially for work travel. when i forget something important it could really cause a lot of pain.
anyway, i think a recent incident i can remember was when i brought my phone but not my phone charger. a good lot of use a phone is without a charger.
and it's not cheap to replace that especially in a foreign country that doesn't sell the same brands. oh well.

I have those moments on a daily basis, as a matter of fact, all of us in the household have a lot of them, because I hear just that comment on an hourly babis.. I have been lucky because I am so precise and "schoolteacherish" when I am packing and I do make lists while packing and pack for a few days before the trip.. But a couple of years ago, my son had one when we got to the beach, it was, Oh sh*t, I forgot my underwear, all of it.. He got a complete new wardrobe of undies at a great shop in Florida, but it was like the markdown 10.00 pairs of Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, and other overpriced name brands..

I always try to remember to pack everything and as I'm packing I will go through mental situations and list where I need things and I will pack those things that come to mind but you know how it is, there's still always manages to be something that you leave behind despite the efforts not to forget anything. I found that it's important not to rush through packing or to wait til the last minute because that's when the real mistakes happen...

Hi, I am well organised here, and on the worktop in the kitchen there will be a writing pad,and each time I pass the pad I will add the things that I need to pack,it is a rare occasion that I will go away and forget someting, the list usaully gets checked thoroughly before I put the lid of the suitcase down, then it is all ready to go.get a pad,it helps

I know just what you mean. I have forgotten my hair brush, tooth brush and paste, a certain outfit I wanted to take, and I think the worst ws my perscription meds. I have also for my extra shoes for comfort when I get there. Or for a lot of walking.
And when I get to my destination finding it's colder or hotter than usual or than I had remembered and had to buy more appropriate things, lol.
Have a safe and wonderful trip.

I have forgotten deoderant that was still sitting on my dresser and I used it just before I ran out the door. I have also forgot things like gifts for a birthday person I am going to visit...or their card and have to either stop someplace to get it or be totally embarassed when I tell them that I have left it behind!

My hairdryer. It never fails. It's always the last item I use that needs to be packed in a suitcase and I invariably leave it in the bathroom. The minute my hair realizes it's not going to be blow dried, it goes nuts and turns to frizz. Payback's a b*tch! LOL

Yeah, while we are in hurry generally in our daily life to our work place also we forget something or the other. And especially while travelling something will be missing and we have to buy it from outside.

I've had these moments as well, we went camping, and of course I forgot my hairbrush so I had tangled hair for 3 days, not good. didn't even have a pony tail holder to just pull it up, and once I had forgotten my curling iron, so I had flat hair day for several days. I'm sure there are many more things and times I forgot stuff, just too many to count.lol
