I've had a lot of success with a low carb, high protein lifestyle. If you do some research you will see how lowering the carbs you take in forces your body to go to other sources for fuel, namely fat. You don't have to starve yourself or live on tiny salads. You can eat meat, eggs, chicken, fish, and a lot of other things that are low in carbs.

I have tried this one too. I have tried doing the Southbeach diet. I did lose some weight but I did not continue it. People in my workplace are influencing me to eat rice on every meal so I cannot say no because if I do they will be the one buying my foods.

Hello Jeiyah,
What a beautiful name you have. I had to go to your site to see how old you are because I believe that at different ages we gain weight, or lose weight, for different reasons; and i see that you are just 18 years old. I know this is a hard time for you because you are probably buying into all the magazine covers of girls and women who have been "airbrushed" of all their imperfections, and it makes one feel like they can never live up to it... and what person alive at any age, wants to be imperfect?.
first I will tell you a bit about me so you can see that I have had MAJOR ISSUES, all my life and I have struggled with my wieght!
when I was just 6 years old my mother would say "oh your face is so pretty, such a shame you are chubby." "If only you could lose a few pounds!"
She made me feel bad from a very young age and started me dieting! Trust me i have gone to many a psychologist to get over this....I even had Bulimia for a short time. But I hate VOMIT lolo...so I stopped. (actually I was the fattest ever, when doing this because calories are actually absorbed when food hits your tongue, and you need to swallow food so you can digest and digestion is like excersise for your tummy and because you burn fat faster.!!!)
I tried every diet, I counted every calorie, I fasted, I cleansed, I despised myself and no matter how SKINNY people told me i was, I could not look in a mirror to see the real me.
I want to tell you what helped me...I decided that I would not go on a DIET.
Instead i would go on a LIV_IT
the way I finally got control was after much search and study, I realized that the stomach is a beautiful thing. it tells you when you are hungry, so I decided to eat only when i felt PANGS of Hunger...then, as your tummy is the size of your palm, you are only to eat portions the size of your palm. but you can do this 6 times a day! but only the size of your palm.
also I became conscious of food mixtures...what digests well with other foods.
for example...sandwich's are bad...if you must e4at the sandwich...have it with veg and cheese. or just vegi...
you may eat whole grain bread with something that will digest weell with it.
meat and vegi goes together...fruit should mainly be eaten alone....you can have your candy and cake too...but alone. never have desert after dinner. wait until your dinner is digested...two hours later have your dessert.
never DENY yourself anything. If you want Ice cream, have it....but then don't eat until a couple hours later until it is absorbed.
I hope you understand this concept. you can find more information in a book called FIT FOR LIFE...it really makes sense.
also your best friend is Apple cider Vinegar and I hope you will check out the site www.applecidervinegar-benfits.com, this is amazing in gettting your weight and digestion in control...they say that if you don't even change the way you eat if you take the vinegar in the morning and at night after a year you will be 15 lbs lighter.
so pretty jeiyah I hope this helps you....just be normal and eat! Starving is not the answer at all you have to eat. but small portions all thru the day.
good luck to you, oh yeah (my doggy is bugging me so i am typing too fast i need to take her out) fast walking is the best excersize. you can walk everywhere and you need no fancy machines...and you can do it for life.

well I know how you feel because I'm trying to lose weight myself and I love to eat, always have and always will. I don't like going on diets because I don't stick to them for more than one day (just being honest). Don't get me wrong I am working on losing.....what I'm doing is changing the way I eat little by little I'm not forcing myself to eat less or things I really don't want to....to my understanding losing weight and keeping it off is a change that should remain, because if you go on a diet, drop the pounds and then get off the diet you'll just put the pounds back on. So instead of not eating the things I like I changed them. Instead of having whole milk I'll have 2or1% sometimes skim (soy milk i drink most of the time), white bread changed to wheat, I buy more fruit instead of bags of chips, make sure I have at least one veggie with my meals, I'll soon be switching to brown rice instead of white, turkey bacon instead of pork (still taste great) and I just changed jobs, my new job requires me to walk around and move alot more. I'm also thinking about getting a bike. Once I have a complete healthly life style i want it to stay that way I don't want to feel like I'm being punished ya know....good luck.

I have to say that it's almost impossible to lose much weight just by dieting and with no exercise. Also, only exercising without dieting also doesn't seem to work. Both have to be done moderately. One good thing about exercise is that you can eat more and still lose weight and you won't be as hungry. Also, it tends to shape your body and build muscle which makes you look better.
Another thing I strongly suggest to lessen your hunger is not to eat all that processed food that most people eat like pasta, chips, cookies, cakes, candy, etc. If you eat more fruits and vegetables, you probably won't feel as hungry.
I've been using a site called SparkPeople which has helped me monitor my food and exercise. It's a great site to learn about how much you should eat an exercise.
Good luck!

Drink alot of water before each meal and fix a plate with a little bit on it. You should be eating 5 small meals a day and as far as exercise goes take the stairs instead of the elevator or walk instead of driving if you can. While brushing your teeth bend at the waist from side to side without moving any other park of your body. You can do this while waiting in line or anything like that. Try and switch alot of what you eat thats not fat free or low fat it helps even if its just a bit and read the labels.

Be careful that you do not start dieting simply because you are gaining a normal amount of weight! As we become adults, we are not supposed to look like teenagers anymore! You are very young, and it is possible for you to gain weight if you start dieting when you do not really need it! You did not mention how much you weigh or what size you are weighing? Go to sparkpeople.com for support and information, and it is free!

good question jeiyah .
drink a glass of water or two before having meal.
eat low calorie /high nutrient diets like fresh vegetables and fruits before moving to the mail meal and then you can have your main meal which should be whole grain cereal with skimmed milk .cut down on junk food that give you extra calorie.dip fried stuffs are hazardous .so avoid it .
eat less but frequently every three four hours.
eat fruits like cucumber or tomato a lot.
avoid cold drinks .excercise like running, swimming ,cycling or working out in gym three to four days can burn considerable amount of calories or you can even engage in sports like tennis, rugby or skiiing etc.

I found that if I start out with protein at breakfast, I get less hungry. Also eat yogurt, nuts, whole grains and cut out the white bread, and the white stuff like no more white rice. Eat lots of salads, but skip the rich dressings. Green tea also helps. A low carb diet is better than a low cal especially if you feel hungry, it takes the edge off your hunger. As for exercise, try doing some weight lifting, and you can go for walks and drink plenty of water. That will help.

Well, if exercising is not one of the options, then changing some of the foods you eat will help plenty.
For example, instead of always eating white rice, try brown rice instead. The higher fibre content and the lower glucose content will definitely reduce your calorie intake.
Instead of always munching on potatoes, try healthier alternatives like cassonova.
Eat more negative caloried foods like beet root, broccoli, grapefruit, apple, guava... etc
Reduce the amounts of sugar you take. Half your usual amounts would be a good start. Limit yourself to only one soft drink a day and you will start to see the difference in no time at all.
Try it! It worked for me and I lost about 3 KG over a month just by substituting alternatives to the foods I usually eat.
Following the above, you will start to lose weight till a certain time, the weight will no longer go down even after a month or two. That is where you have to start exercising to lose more.
Hope it helps.

I have gained a few extra pounds over the years and about 5 months ago I started to care about it and I wanted to lose some weight. I was motivated because I had just left my husband of 19 years and moved to another city and want to start my life over again. I am 51 years old and starting over. So one of the things I wanted to do was lose some weight and change my attitude to a more upbeat, self confident woman. So what I did is cut out all of my carb intake. Carbs turn into sugar when digested and sugar turns into fat if not burned off. So I cut out my carbs and ate anything else that I liked. I am still dieting and so I am still losing weight. For breakfast I have a protein shake and then for mid morning snack I have a piece of fruit. For lunch I have a protein bar and then afternoon snack I have some vegetables, like peppers and celery and cucumber slices. No Carrots. Carrots are a carb. Then for dinner I have meat as my main course and have a salad and/or cooked vegetable.
Carbs means breads, flour, potaotes, rice, noodles, corn, carrots. These are the main things with carbs, that most people eat. So if you cut these out of your daily diet you can't help but lose weight. I have lost 30 pounds in the last 5 months and I still have another 15 pounds to go to reach my goal. It is all a matter of choices and a change in lifestyle as in your eating habits. I don't call what I am doing dieting, I call it eating healthy.

The only guaranteed way to lose weight is to diet and exercise. Even if you do not have a lot of time you can still exercise. I lost 30 kilos exercising only 20 mins a day and controlling the amount of calories and fat in my diet. I have an exercise bike at home and I spent time on it every morning before work.
As for the obsession with eating you can take appetite suppressants. They help to cut your appetite down until your stomach shrinks. Once that has happened the trick is to never stretch it again. I like my food as well but if you eat until you are feeling uncomfortable you know you have stretched your stomach.
Apart from that there is no easy way to lose weight. You have to eat less calories than you need in order to reduce weight and you need to burn some off. I know how hard it is because now that I am ill I cannot exercise much at all and because I do not move much I would almost have to starve myself to try and reduce my calorie intake. I have gained about 6 kilos since becoming ill and I find it almost impossible to lose it again because I cannot exercise.
Even if you are busy you can spare 20 to 30 mins a day or every second day to do some exercise. I was busy with work when I was losing weight, working 10 12 hours a day but I still managed to exercise most days and I counted my calories to make sure I was maintaining my diet. I also avoided fatty foods and chose low fat versions of fatty foods. Walking briskly is a good exercise. Whenever you walk somewhere do it briskly, never stroll any where. It all helps. Once you start to lose weight it gets easier.

you have to low the carbohydrates and eat more protein in your diet. I suggest to you to go and make an appointment with a dietician. dieticians will give you the right diet, and how much to eat, what you can eat, and what you will eat day by day

My husband has been losing quite a bit of weight without much effort. His trick is to eat a handful of peanuts when he gets hungry, and then drink a big glass of water. That cuts down his appetite so that when he eats a little bit later, he doesn't need that much to feel full.

Eat more salads with low fat toppings and dressings. Also if you can get a member ship to a gym that has treadmills you can walk on the treadmill and read what you need for class and while you're concentrating on you reading your not paying attention to the time that you have spent on the treadmill thus getting your work out with out knowing it. One thing I did when I was in classes was that I recorded all the classes that I took and then I listened to them while I worked out so that I didn't have to one take notes and two I can do other things while I listen to the lectures over and over. Hope that you find some of this helpful take care and good luck in your weightloss and studies.

My 3 basic rules to lose weight are: move more, drink more water, and eat healthier. Here are some specific weight loss techniques I use to keep my weight down.
1. Wear a pedometer (step counter) as it encourages you to move around more.
2. Drink alot of water each day, at least 6-8 glasses.
3. Eat a fruit before each meal. That takes the edge off your hunger so maybe you won't overeat. Plus, you'll meet a fruit quota of 3 fruits per day.
4. Eat 4 or 5 servings (at least) of vegetables in a day. They help to fill up your stomach and have lots of vitimins and other good stuff in them.
5. If something has white sugar or white flour in it, avoid it, if at all possible.
6. Eat something every few hours, don't allow yourself to get overly hungry as that tends to lead to overeating.
Good luck, jeiyah_12. Hope some of these work for you.

Hmmm.. First, your attitude. If you really like to lose some weight just be patient and be in control. Second, if you're eating rice eat rice but you have to lessen your rice. When you're hungry and you eat rice, eat some fruits or bread. Don't make things hurry. If you do you'll get sick. Third, just continue doing it. When you're hungry just eat don't make your hunger past. And you'll see the difference.
