Why of course! Think about it if there are no teachers then there wouldn't be other professions because from the very start it has been the job of teachers to produce professionals like them.

That is true and I have thought about that. But people can also argue that teachers arent paid what other professions are paid. And that they get all this time off. And if they are a proffession such as other ones why are they not given the respect that other profesions are given?

I think teaching is profession, although in the past few years it has been seen as less so. I also think it is a vocation (can something be a profession and vocation?)I think it is sad that teaching doesn't have the respect it used to; from children, parents, media and the government.

I have to agree I think that its upsetting as well that teachers dont have the respect that they used to have. I wonder why and what has changed the value of teachers. With the curriculum they have today, I really think that they are doing more today then they were having to do in the past. So why is it they are not being respected more? Why less?

Definately I think teaching is a profession just like any other. It is one of the most imnportant professions that there is.

I agree that teaching is one of the most important professions becuase to get lawyers, or doctors these people have to be educatred from somewhere. But I think that alot of people argue that professions are people who get 6 digit slaries, dont have the summers off and time off during the year. Do you think that teaching is one of the hardest professions?

It is a profession if you just think of it as earning money and getting through with the month but it is a vocation if you are after prospering students knowledge and guiding them to be an asset of the nation in the future.

I think teaching is more of like nursing. It is both a profession and vocation. Profession in a sense that it requires extensive study, aside from the simple fact that it is considered a profession nowadays. In my view, it is also a vocation, because teaching requires you to be in service of your student, and the passion to do it is not something you see in other kinds of profession.

Teaching is indeed a profession. It is a vocation. Some teachers teach in order to live, however. Many of them, though, live in order to teach. Is there a difference? Think it over. However, teaching in my countries does not provide someone with a sense of gratification due to low salary. That must not be a problem for teachers who have finally discover MyLot community. LOL! What more if they find other income-earning sites that really pay! I, too, enjoy teaching -- in a number of ways. Of course it is. What would make you or lead you to believe that it isn't? There are many jobs that are classified as professional jobs and teaching is one of them. Not sure what you thought it was.

I think teacher is a profesion very much different than lawyer, yes a teacher help the lawyer to get to his profesion but the merit is for the lawyer not for the teacher why? Because u didnt take the work to make u famous i give classes but i dont get any merit i give classes for free i dont take summer vacations and i study and give classes but i wont take merit of the people i teach is their merit their potition in life if they wanna give me some of it ill be proud. By the way i dont give classes in school ill teach in personal defense is teaching to kids very little kids, is hard work isnt payd job is a pissing job; but is my job and im very proud of it

For me, teaching is not a profession, but a VOCATION. Teaching is not a lucrative job, and nobody gets rich in teaching. I've been an educator for how many years and though I would say that what I earn is really not enough, the reward you get is the gift of knowledge you impart to the pupils who are striving to learn. It's more of public service when you teach...
