I'm not sure there is an ideal monitor. What's great for one person is not great for someone else. I use a 17 inch monitor because it came with the computer. I found it to be very nice in size because I had been using a 14 inch monitor and this one seemed so much bigger at the time. I'd like a bigger monitor because my eyes are old and often tired and my wife also has low vision problems. But, that will have to wait unti I can afford such a luxury :)

I use a 17" monitor and I think most people do. People who are using smaller monitors may be because of a compulsion of space or because it was what was supplied with the computer and have not decided to change.
What is important is how comfortable you are with your display.

knightrider I have a new 19 inch led monitor and I
love it as I can get everything on it with out
missing anything in details. so I would say 19 inch is
really ideal. lol. I had a little 14 inch one and that
was just plain awful so now I have this and am so
pleased with it.

I also have a 17" monitor.I think the bigger the better.I like playing games so I prefer 17"PC rather than a 15" laptop.

My screen is a 15" one
N i guess this is the standard..I mostly used screen size for desktops
For Lapy's its like 14" but i wud prefer a 12"
The smaller the screen..The Sexier the Lappy is:)

I use a 14" monitor for my desktop, and my laptop too 14". So, there is no problems for me to shift from laptop to desktop or vice versa.

I have 2 monitors, a 17'' with black surrond and 17'' with silver surround. The silver one always seems bigger.
I would still like to upgrade to a 19'' one though
