Respectfully, I am only in my mid 30's but have been wearing reading glasses probably since my early teens. I am not sure that there is any one natural age for any type of glasses or if reaching the age of 40 automatically requires reading glasses. Our eyes age just as any other part of us or by disease. Your question is interesting but I am not sure there is any natural course our eyes take that way. And yes, I will be wearing my bifocal prescription at 40...

I am not sure, but I think I started wearing glasses when I was in my forties, and do have to continue. I remembered when my vision was perfect, then later began to deteiorate as I get older. I think that happens to most of us.

Hi there, I am not so sure age is the primary factor. I think with most things it has to do with genetics. I just got glasses myself (aged 41) but I only need them for distance. My brother is older than me and he dos not use glasses for anything. My mother who is much older still does not need glasses when she reads. cheers,
