Could we delete or Discussion with no response?

Philippines
June 28, 2008 6:15am CST
One of my fear on starting a discussion is not receiving a response at all. I feel it's a failure on my part for not posting a good discussion and I almost had one discussion that has no response if not for a friend who took time to respond to my 'silly' story. Anyway, I would like to ask you fellow mylot members if we could just delete our discussions without any response after a day of posting it? Or could we suggest this to mylot admin? Thanks!

That ok my friend. It does happen sometimes when we receive little or no response to our discussions. It's not that it isn't a good discussion, maybe other people may not have seen it or logged in a few days later and missed the opening of your discussion but was interested in it. Don't feel bad. Think also that maybe some people outside mylot, who if were members, might have responded to it. As for deleting it, I'm afraid we can't do that as of now. We can suggest it to the admins however, it will go through studies so as not to be exploited and it should be streamlined to serve it's purpose. Take care.

I guess so. Because we have a lot of discussions we have and a lot of members posting, sometimes our discussions are not that lucky enough to get noticed. I don't really feel bad. I just think that maybe we could just delete it if no member will be affected by such deletion. Or maybe we could just wait until a member would post a response to it. Thanks for sharing your views and have fun posting!

It was really disappointing or frustrating to write a discussion, which you think that you had given your best idea but no one seems to bother responding. I also got that feelings before, when I was just starting. I just thought nobody was interested or they can't relate to my story. So I left it alone. Until somebody gave me some tips... That frustrations I felt before became my inspirations now, to write more and post more...

hello neil, it's disappointing sometimes since I do not start a discussion quite a lot. I start one after thinking about it well and expecting to get some responses. Anyway, it really happens and we cannot do about it. So like you, I'll just keep them a challenge to inspire me to write and post more. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Yup, sometimes it really feels frustrating to know that your discussions are not getting attention...hehehe. Anyway, I guess we'll just learn to accept that fact, and I think almost everybody experience it. Even the well seasoned members here have experienced the same as well. Thanks, have fun, and keep on posting!

Hi Fortnox, I honestly don't know the answer to this question but I had a discussion recently with no responses and just left it and when I logged in today someone has responded so give it time. When I first started a few of mine where just one response or none. I just moved on and posted my next one. It is not because you are a failure in anyway it is just maybe this hasn't been seen by anybody and got lost amongst the thousands of new postings that are out there. Keep posting, keep responding and most importantly have FUN with it and don't let this no response post affect you. Ellie :D

I would also like to apologise for my late response as I have been away and am trying to play catch up with them all. Maybe a lot of others are away also. Ellie :D

Hi ellie, thanks for always there to support my discussions. You actually saved me from having a discussion with zero response when you responded about the funny header of my email that I sent to my boss.... That was a funny experience I had that I thought I could catch responses. Don't worry, I too am late to post response sometimes. Just like today, it took more that a day before I could reply this back. I didn't had time yesterday to be online for a few minutes. I only managed to post 1 yesterday. Thanks and have a great day! Yup, I always make sure I'm having fun with the discussions I join in.

Don't worry about discussions with no responses, you shouldn't feel like a failure at all. It happens to everyone and it could happen for any number of reasons; perhaps you posted when not many people were online to see the discussion, maybe there was lots of other good activity while you posted so you didn't stay at the top of the list for long, or maybe it was just on a subject that not many people could relate to. It's not really a big deal. It's always hit and miss as to whether people will reply on here, and you're lucky if this is the first topic where you haven't got any (or many) replies! Saying this though, I agree that it would be useful to be able to delete our own discussions sometimes, especially those that we post at 3:00 in the morning when we can no longer think straight, and then when we wake up later on we think "Oh cr%#, I didn't really post that did I?" Sadly we can't delete them, and it's for these discussions that I sometimes hope I get no replies!!

Thanks liquorice for your advice. Yup, it seemed our discussions sometimes are missed with the thousands of posts made in a minute because members are very active here. I agree that sometimes especially during those times you stated, we post discussions that after a day we wonder if we did really post them. I just noticed an error in the title of this discussion after a day. I should have typed 'delete our discussions' instead of 'delete or discussions' . I couldn't do anything about it anymore and I know all the respondents noticed this error I committed. Have a great day!

hi fortnox. it is true. whether other mylot associates admit it or not, bold people like you and me do admit this fact!! the deleting there is no such provision i have come across. i suppose that mylot should be doing it after some time. well the suggestion can be sent to mylot admin but i do not think it will be acceptable for professional reasons. all the best..

thanks juhi! There's nothing we can do but to accept that sometimes, the discussions that we post and think would attract responses just doesn't make it due to some reasons. I just thought if we could just delete our own discussions that has zero response since it hasn't been credited to us yet and no member will be affected.

hi fort my friend! yeah you can have it deleted but you cannot do it on your end. you will have to message admin for it and when you do that, it will be removed from your earnings and your ranking will be diminished as well. so if it is there, just let it be. unless of course it is really the system that removes your discussion, because they do clean up periodically to remove duplicate and seemingly useeless discussions. good day friend! God bless you! :)

Hi spoiled, thanks for your explanation. I guess if that's the case, I will just leave it that way and never mind having discussions without response.... Anyway, when the admin decides to delete it, it would be better for my part. Have a great day and hope you're having fun!

Well as far as I know its only Mylot who can delete your post and not the poster itself. You are right in there I just wished that we could just delete our post with no response. I think I have one post that has that and it sill exist to this day. I think we should be given such privilege for those post that has zero response. Or maybe after several weeks or days it is automatically removed from our posts.

That's a good idea rsa, maybe mylot set a timeframe wherein discussions without posts would automaticallt deleted. Maybe after a week or two. It just frustrates us to see our discussions without responses sometimes...

One thing friend.. always good discussion gets less responses.. If the topic is so good..people will just skip through..hahaha... and regarding the deletion of your own subject, or edit your own post.. the option is not available as of now.. hope mylot will soon come out with one such a thing.. Take care friend.

That's a good one saiven.... I'll just think that I made a very good discussion that nobody took noticed of or would want to say something about it. It will lighten up my disappointment.

It does not mean you are a failure if your discussion gets no responses. There are so many new discussions starting all the time at myLot that some slip down the lists before they can get noticed. It does help if you have plenty of friends, so they can recieve notification of your new discussions. When I look through the lists of discussions from my interests and discussions with no responses, I often find some good ones which have not been replied to. I will always try to add a response to a good discussion, but there will always be some that I never get to see. MyLot seems to prefer not to allow us to delete old discussions with no responses. These will still appear under discussions with similar topics so there is always a chance of gettting a reply at a later date.

hi paid2write, thanks for your thoughts and recommendation. So I guess mylot would prefer not to delete them and maybe sometime somebody would find the discussion interesting that they would post a response to it. Well as neil said in his response, I'll take them a challenge and as inspiration to write and post more. Have a great day!

dont say that. we dont have control everytime we post a discussion. some times i post and i get a few responses and some times i get alot of responses. it also may depends on the topic i guess. but i think we all go thru it. so have faith...

hi wandalie, yes we don't have control on the discussions that we start. It's either it will hit or miss and thanks for sharing your views on the topic. So I'll just be okay if I'll have a discussion without a response. I'll just ask one of you to respond to it.... Have a great day!

I think we couldn't delete them. I also had discussions with zero responses so but my friends took time to respond to it. I'm doing the same thing recently. I long for a delete button and edit button. Hehe. Same as you,I suggest to have one. Instead of our discussions getting deleted without notice, why not give us the ability to delete our own. Right? God bless you, friend!

Yup, why just they don't give us the option to delete our own discussions that has no response. How I wish...hehehe. Anyway, we don't have that option yet and I guess they will give time for our discussions to be noticed by the members to get response.

There is no chance for you to delete any posting, whether with a response or not. I doubt if they will delete if for you or even mull of adding a delete button for our convenience. Do not worry about a discussion you started that gets no immediate response. I have some of them and I just leave it as is. There are a lot of new members daily and there is a chance that their interest is one of your topics. I have seen posts of over a year old and still gets responses. Keep Posting:)

dear fortnox75 (370) you,re to hard on yourself just because you don,t always receive an response to your post don,t make you a failure I think you should probably suggest to mylot admin to delete post unresponded to within a 48 hour period that you don,t have piled up mail on your account .... Hi gateway, I'm not really too hard about it. I just thought that if we could have an option, I would want to delete my discussions that did not get a response. It's quite a disappointment sometimes because I also have taken time and effort to think about it before posting. But if we cannot do nothing about it, it's okay for me. Keep on posting and have fun. Welcome to mylot!
