Being addicted to cartoons is better than being addicted to XBox. Well.. actually both are as bad..
Anyway, I was a cartoon and anime fan since young. However, I never allowed it to affect my studies. It's all a matter of discipline.
My parents also only allow us to watch cartoons if we have finished our homework. They will check through to make sure everything is done properly. If not, no cartoon.
There's no problem with cartoons. The problems lie with the parents and how they discipline their kids. If they allow their kids to control them, the kids will be tyrants and do whatever they like.

I used to love to watch some cartoons when I was a kid. I grew out of that though. I have seen some recent cartoons and they disgust me that they think they are appropriate for children to watch. I think alot of kids want to stay in front of the tv watching shows or playing games these days instead of going outside to play like we did when we were younger. I think it isn't good for them. They need to exercise and do other things.

Hello dear julyteen. I think that it depends on how you guide the kids to watch cartoon movies. The parents can always ask their kids to use their heads and make a short summary of the story that they watch and ask them to tell the parents what they have learned from the cartoon. This way the kids are taught to use their mind and do some simple analysis to the movies they watch to help develop their mind. Thanks.

When I was a kid I learned very quickly how to balance school and television. I would do my homework in class as the teachers were talking. And the only reason I never got in trouble was because I was quiet so I went unnoticed. So by the time I got home my afternoons were free. There's nothing wrong with a child watching cartoons. But if you feel like there should be a limit then you could set a time schedule for them.
