Hair cut like a celebrity

There is a show called [i]Shear Genius[/i ] (hair stylists compete for a big prize) that airs on the Bravo network. Last year a woman asked the contestant to cut and style her hair like Gwen Stefani's. Well the contestant (the hair stylist) tried, but it just isn't likely that a person can give a woman platinum blonde hair in two hours when the original color of the woman's hair was black. So it didn't go well. My mom brought my sister and I into a salon when we were very young, I think 5 and 7. She asked the woman to cut me and my sister's hair like Dorothy Hamill, the famous ice skater. Dorothy Hamill was still quite popular back then. Well when the hair cuts were finished, we did not look like Dorothy Hamill. We looked like Dorothy Hamill's brother! Have you ever asked your stylist or barber to cut your hair like a celebrity? If so, did it work out OK? Is there someone you want to have you hair styled after? I know the Rachel cut was popular when Jennifer Aniston was on Friends.

no I never did because I always knew that my hair never looked the same as everyone else, especially if that person had thick hair because my hair was always thin.

yes that is true, lots of times, people want to look like the celebrities forgetting that know hairstyle is going to change their face.

You were one of the smart ones! I don't know how many times my friends and even once my sister would be so disappointed with their hair cut because it didn't look like the celebrities. I think subconsciouly they thought the hair would make their face look like the celebrity.

Well when I was in my late teens Farrah Fawcett hair was popular. Mine was cut like hers. In fact I think everyone's hair was cut like hers. My hair is curly and its really hard to get to look like most of the celebrities so I don't ask for a particular hairstyle...just something that will look good on me.

I bet Farrah Fawcett's hair was more of a craze than even the Jennifer Aniston 'Rachel' haircut. And the 'Rachel' haircut was insanely popular. But I imagine Farrah would win hands down.

I tried it once last year, I told the barber to cut my hair same with the picture I've shown to him. Yes, before we went to hair salon, I printed my favorite korean hair style that I really want for my hair. My friends and classmates and even my family really love it!! It fits me well and they said I look korean when I have that kind of hair style. Btw, I'm a asian (Filipino).

I have my hair cut really almost bald like Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant or Kevin Garnett so I guess you could say my hair cut is just like a celebrity's. I do just let it grow when it does and I just look like a regular bloke.

I remember the Dorothy Hamill look, and also the Farrah Faucet hairdo. I did , way back then, have my hair feathered, but haven't been to a hairdresser since I was 22, a long long time ago. I think if I were to go , I would have it feathered again, the new hairstyles just don't seem to fit me.

I have never had my hair styled like a celebrity. I feel that you have to have the same type of hair to get the look. I mean if you have thick hair or thinner hair you aren't going to get the same look. I try cut my hair to suit me and make me look somewhat better, because I know if I get a haircut that might look fabulas on someone else might look gab on me.

I had the Dorothy Hamill when I was in grade school. My mom wanted my hair short as it was/is thick and tangly. I still go through a bottle of detangler a month. The Dorothy Hamill looked really cute on me. I have the round face and cherub cheeks like Dorothy. Then mom switched me to a Princess Diana. Very similar, just shorter and more layers. I have been trying to grow my hair long for a few years now and just can't settle on a style. I need to find a new celebrity to aim for. Any celebrities with chubby cheeks and long hair you can think of?

I still ask for the Dorothy Hamill hair cut. Trouble is the young hairdressers don't recognise the name or the hair cut these days!!

Hehe..Oh yes, I remember vividly years and years ago, was about maybe 17 years old and I wanted the "shag" look that was popular with celebrities like Jane Fonda...few others made that style popular too...uh, well, let's put it this way...it was a complete disaster! I guess it would have worked better with someone with iron-straight hair, but mine was wavy and curly....ekkk....could NOT wait for it to grow out of it.

Hello dear AmbiePam. Celebrities are always models to others. They play an important role in everything. In fact, I don't follow their hairstyle, but I did when I was young in my teen years. Thinking of it makes me smile, as it reminds me of my young days. Thanks.

ha.ha.ha. I thought this is for teens and adults only but then surprised yesterday when we accompanied our daughter to barber shop, she asked her own style of hair to the gay and she requested her new hair the same with one of the celebrities on the magazine.

When I went to get my hair cut when I was in high school she told me she thought I would look good Rachel cut from friends . Since I was a huge fan I said okay . Needless , to say it didnt look like that or good on me . When I was a teen for some reason I wanted blonde hair and tried many times , and only got orange . Then , I wanted blonde highlites on my dark brown hair and that never helped with a bottle , or at a beauty shop . They said I would have to keep coming back and they would go lighter and lighter , and well i didnt have the time or the money to go through all that . I remember when I was five my mom took me to get my hair cut and feathered . I cant believe I had hair like that . well , it was the 80s

I have never asked a stylist to cut my hair like a celebrity. However, I have shown them pictures of a style. I never get what I want so I don't go anymore.

Nope....and probably never will....I like to keep it simple. Sometimes those haircuts are too hard to take care of. I just recently got mine done differently and had to learn to use one of those roll type brushes....well it's never even come close to the way the lady did it. My hair is short...and many of those celebrities hair is a bit longer....?

I did have a Dorothy Hamill hair style when I was about 19 or so. My style turned out okay. I did have a hair cut about a year ago that I didn't like the way that it turned out, though it wasn't considered a celebrity hair cut. I guess from now on I will just stick with my neighbor who is a hair stylist to cut my hair. It's much cheaper to boot and she does a great job.

I've never wanted to have a celebrity hair cut. I prefer being an individual too much! A couple of months back, I had it all shaved off to support a girl who was shaving hers off to raise money for a local cancer group. I wanted to sponsor her so badly, as she was only 8 at the time and oh so brave about it, but I needed a credit card. I did the next best thing, and had mine all hacked off too, back to about 5mm in length. It is growing back rather funny, and got me thinking maybe time for a trip to the salon to see if they can tame it for me! lol.

Is Locks of Love a charity where you are? As I was losing my hair I decided to cut off what I still had and give it to Locks of Love. It barely was long enough, so I just made it. It sounds like a charity you would enjoy, plus you wouldn't be bald, just have shorter hair. : )

I don't think we do have that charity here. We have the Shave for a Cure run by the local cancer council, which raises money to support families with children who are undergoing cancer treatment. The event is run about 3 times a year now I believe, and quite popular. Hat sales got through the roof too, so good for the economy as well!

I haven't been to a hairdresser in about 12 years and the very word 'celebrity' produces an unpleasant reaction on my part - so I'll just give a straight 'no' to your question.
