Hi,I've read so many books over the years that I've loved..but sometimes i forget ..so I re-read them to enliven the characters...Most of the time it is because I enjoy the world and the characters and i want to revisit them .
the most re-read books are Sherlock Holmes series....
Its always nice to visit and old friend especially during cozy and sleepless nights .So turn off your computer,Brew tea, find a comfy place and have a great read...
Do you re-read the books that you love ..what are the books which you have re-read more than once and why??

I agree with you, I love a good book and at the moment I am a total book fiend! I keep seeing new books and buying them cos they're on sale!
My favourites to re-read are any of Wilbur Smiths's books. I'm fascinated by Africa and especially Ancient Egypt and that's what his stories are about. I get really into it and connect with the characters - I love it! I've enjoyed every book he has written, even the ones I thought wouldn't be that good were just brilliant.
I also enjoy most crime or thriller books. The one I've just finished was called Written in Bone and I couldn't put it down but I couldn't read it in the dark either!

I would never re-read any books, unless they are reference/self-help books and even then I would just refer to them. There are way too many books in the world for me to be wasting time re-reading books I have already read... especially in my house. I have over 200 books I have yet to read. When my father passed away over 2 years ago I brought a bunch from his collection home. I also can't resist picking up bargains at secondhand stores, etc. Even the library tends to draw me into taking out a book I want to read.
No, I never re-read a book.

Nope. I would go to the library or a book store and look for books. People recommend books all the time (usually on this site). If I like the sound of them I write them in a little notebook which I keep on hand so I can check it when I go to the library or a book store. I have no desire to re-read books.

No, I never re-read books that I have already read. I feel that why should I re-read them if I already know what will happen. If I was to forget what the book was about, I would just read the summary and that should refresh my memory. I don't even re-read my favorite books.

I am a lover of great books and I have definitely re-read a number of books over the years. In fact, some of the books I have re-read more than once because they were that good. The best thing about re-reading a book is finding out something that you didn't quite catch the first time around. It's worth hanging on to those books for that reason alone.

yes definitely! i have a collection of books i love from my favorite authors. i sometimes get that buying frenzy and stack up my books when i don't have time to read. when i get the time, i whole myself up in at home and read and read. when i think that i am almost forgetting the story of my of my books i take time to read them again. my cousin thinks im crazy for doing that. =)

Since I'm an English teacher, there are many books I have to read year after year to teach effectively. I almost always find new ideas and interpretations. That leads into rereading books I've enjoyed outside of the curriculum, and I love it. Sometimes, I even have to remind myself to read something new.
A similar compulsion has to do with authors. I often enjoy a book and seek out everything that author ever wrote, which is great fun. One summer, I read everything William Faulkner ever published because his complicated style came up in a linguistics class I was taking. It was fabulous! It took me to other southern (US) writers, and I sort of had to remind myself to get back to contemporary writers.
As a break from shat I teach, I've been into reading thrillers for a few years now. A couple of friends and I share books, and we've been enjoying John Sandford, Greg Iles, Walter Moseley, all three of the Kellerman family of writers, and many more. We had a department head at work who was married to a famous and prolific writer, so we tried to read his stuff. Frankly, we all found it really boring!
A lot of authors write about Miami, and I like to read about my hometown, identifying people and places I know, and laughing about errors that may or may not be accidental (maybe the authors are trying to make minor changes to enhance the creativity ivolved.

I do re-read some books. I especially like Janette Oke's books and seem to be able to glean yet another message from them each time I read them.

i also do that. i recently re-read mitch albom's five people you meet in heaven, and after reading it 3 or 4 times, it still makes me cry. as with turning off my computer or laptop, sometimes it is hard because i also have a collection of e-books.
i really don't need an ambiance to read. in the morning i would read in the garden to save electricity. if i can, i would like to finish the book before the sun goes down :D

I have read that ..although it did not make me cry ..its a truly sentimental book ..i have already read it twice and the more you read it ..the more you want to read it once again....it makes me wonder whether my life on earth makes a difference to someone else life....it also makes me wonder whether who is the five people that i will meet in heaven..the book is truly inspirational. It makes one go out in the world and try to make an impact on peoples lives...I recommend everyone to read this book believers or non-believers - doesn't matters.

Definately... I've read Moby D!ck about 6 times now... I love that book... Everytime I read it again, I find something new about the story line... Also, each time I raed it, I try to follow a different character... Makes it more interesting & makes it feel like I'm reading a new book each time...

I've read some books dozens of times. Currently re-reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman, which just made my jaw drop when I read it. He's probably the author I hate most, as he makes writing a book look so damned easy ;)
Agree on the Sherlock Holmes stories, I've read those a fair few times, too.
Other stuff I've re-read? The Harry Potter series, Douglas Adams' stuff... to be honest, anything I own has gotten read at least twice.

Oh yes, I most definitely re-read books that I love. There are several series I fell in love with when I was a teenager, and every few years I feel the need to go back and revisit those stories and characters... because even if I no longer am a big fan of that author, those particular stories will always have a place in my heart and mind.
Some that come to mind are the David Eddings series The Belgariad and the Mallorean. Another more recent series is the George R. R. Martin's series Song of Ice and Fire, which I reread about every year (or whenever a new book comes out). It's wonderful for refreshing my memory on the story.

yes most definitely! there are a few books that i read at least once each year; one is dannielle steels 'message from nam' and another one is a missionary story about a missionary to china during the 1930s. i generally read non fiction (history) and these books are well written.

Yes, I have reread a book but not till years later. I don't want to remember the story completely so I wait a few years to read it again, and I only do this with the books I think are really good. The other ones that I have read, I give away or trade for more books at the second hand book store, but sometimes I will keep a couple for a few years and read them again, as I have forgotten most of the story by then. I also like to see the same movie a few times because each time I see it, I notice some different things I didn't notice the other times I watched it. But it has to be a really good movie, not just the ordinary kind.

I read most of my books more than once. Yes it is because after some time i tend to forget the plot and its like reading that book for the first time.
But as i read i recognise the plot. But still it is enjoyable because the first time i would have read it fast and now i can enjoy reading the book at my own slow pace and enjoy it.
I even read books more than twice.
