I do smoke since I was in high school. I have planned to quit soon. My bench mark is my father who quit smoking when we are in high school already. That means, I need to wait for four more years.

That's the standard excuse for smokers. If you can really live up to your promise when the time comes, no one will be better benefitted than you yourself. But the problem is, people get addicted to the smoke so much that they just keep on promising that they won't smoke again, only to fall back and carry on smoking.

That is why I save set the time I was going to stop smoking and gonna make sure that when I stopped, it really stop. This is noted by kids like what my father did to us. He told us or promised to us that he will stop smoking when we get in high school, so we keep on monitoring him when we get into high school and it was a great success for him and for us. This is the path I was following four years from now.

I've been smoking for about 24 years... I have a room set aside in my house just for smoking... My daughter knows not to come into it unless she absolutely has to... It's called, "Daddy's room"... I know I should quit... I keep telling myself that but I don't know why I haven't yet...

I do not smoke, but I have grown up in a family that all either smokes or has smoked in my life time. So, I have had enough influence to kind of either make me want to smoke, or not want to smoke. I think growing up around smokers either increases your curiosity to the point where you try it yourself and possibly become hooked, try it and stop, or become so disgusted by it that you will not even get near it. I am the last of that list; I cannot even stand the smell. I try to respect another person's right to do what they want, and try to steer clear of people when they are smoking.

That's very good of you, Valenas. But if people at your home itself smoke, it still can be a potential hazard to you. After all, passive smokers also contract a lot of diseases. Try to avoid the smoke altogether. I myself also "steer clear" of smoking people, as you pointed out.

Yeh, its my choice and my curse. I wouldn't recommend anyone should start but then I'm not really interested in stopping either. Oh what a twisted web we weave!
Live and let live

Three cheers to you knightrider. That's the sort of mentality people should be having. Really, smoking doesn't have anything special in it. In a world, where everyday, tons of poisonous gases and fumes are being emitted into the atmosphere and we are having no choice but to live with the poison around us, is it advisable to inhale more poison willingly into our system? If you take monetary considerations, is it advisable to waste your money upon something which will inevitably harm our body and make us spend even more on the medication needed to cure the damage caused by it? Continue with the good life, knightrider. There are a lot of better goodies to eat which provide more enjoyment than the abominable, poisonous smoke. Do reply. Cheers.
