im better at typing them out too.. i think because you can always erase them later (if its just like writing in a journal not a post) and you can vent everything out then handle things better in real life instead of maybe accidentally saying something out of your mouth that you cant take back in real life

i dont. whenever i make replies, i type what my head thinks. then im sure that there's nothing wrong with the reply i posted because i depend much on my free flowing ideas. i type what i read simultaneously so im sure that what i am typing is relevant to what i was thinking along. happy posting!

i guess it really depends sometimes on how personal the subject and comment are to you since that might totally change your free flowing ideas with too much emotion but that could just be me that that happens to lol

I do this more frequently than actually shows up in my final post, with many thanks to the handy backspace button.
Even with backspace and delete, I still manage to have some things slip past those safeguards. Especially when I'm on digital art forums, I take a look at the art I'm about to critique, then post my input, then take another look and realize that I'm totally off base.
Luckily, forums have a hand=y "edit post" button, and I can always change my first take on the art into something a little less knee-jerk reaction style.

i wish that mylot had an edit button or a delete button for when you accidently post something without thinking then realize real quick it wasnt correct etc but unfortunately this site isnt forgiving in that area lol

That thankfully has not happened to me, because I usually think before I type. It's definitely safer that way. Sometimes, I can sit in front of the PC for a long time pondering what to say in response to a discussion, and nothing much comes out of my head. At other times, when an idea comes I start typing, then keep changing and chopping as I went along. In the end, the thoughts were all incoherent and didn't quite reflect my sentiments about what I really want to express, so I throw the whole thing away and restart all over. Also at times, when nothing much comes out after thinking a long time, I just give up and move on to another discussion. So yes, I do think before I type and if I have nothing worthwhile to say after all the thinking, I won't post in case I end up regretting later.

That has definitely happened to me before! I hate it when that happens because sometimes I can hurt someone's feelings without meaning too. I try to read what I've just written to make sure that it doesn't hurt someone's feelings but there are times when someone just reads it wrong. I am also afraid to put a smiley face after I say something too, because I don't want someone to think I'm being smug. It's hard to portray exactly what you're saying without being able to use your own voice tones and facial expressions and that's why I think it's easy to say something on the internet that may hurt someone's feelings or it's easy to be hurt by something where the author did not mean to hurt.
I hope my answer is what you were looking for.

yeah there can definitely be a loss in translation problem on the internet.. i tried to read everything i write several times now too.. especially since i got off of my ADD meds so i have a tendency to type things out and become scrambled because i am typing too fast and thinking about ten things at once.. so i try to really slow down now and pay attention.. some times i just put it off till the next day since i stay up too late and afraid that sleep will also cloud my judgment and ability to catch things lol

Very rarely it happens with me. But sometimes, after hitting the submit button i tend to think i could have presented the matter in a much better manner with more substance.

Normally I always try to be as much careful as possible about whatever I'm writing or typing. But, yes I must admit frankly that this thing that you have mentioned has happened tome also many times and even at mylot also. But most of the time I always try to read my post or typed matter before hitting submit button. However, when I'm in some kind of hurry or too tired, I tend to skip this 'read before submit' step and later I find that many mistakes have been left.

Yes I have done things like that. I have typed a response here and then later on the person comments to me and I read it all again and I think, I can't believe I said that. That is not what I meant. I think it is because I get too tired sometimes and I still work the site because I haven't been active much lately, and then I end up typing things I didn't mean. I just hope that no one ever gets mad at me, although I am not mean by nature so I am sure I wouldn't type anything mean. I also try to remember to always say this is just my opinion, so no one gets mad at me. I have had someone get really mad at me once here in mylot and then she stalked me for about a month till mylot got rid of her. What I mean by stalking me is, she went to all of my discussions and a lot of my responses to other people's discussions and said really nasty mean things to me, about me. So I am mow careful what I say so I try to think about what I am going to say, before I say it. I also tend to read my response now before I post it so that it doesn't come across the wrong way.

oh i know!! i some times look back and either made opposite sense or seemed catty or something and then i feel bad since i dont want to hurt anyones feelings either even if it pisses me off.. i think i some times upset people because i question their replies even though im just curious and wondering why or something i think they might think i am challenging them or being rude or something.. i hope they dont

I admit that, once in a while, I do that when I'm feeling rushed. But I just don't get as much out of this site when I do that.
The money we get on here is a good bonus, but I don't see how this little money is worth the time spent if something more wasn't keeping me here. I like taking part in the conversations and sharing ideas with people. Get a few bucks is a nice extra, but rushing to get those bucks isn't worth it.

I did that one time over the presidential debates discussion. I was so scare that I was going to get kicked off mylot for that one. That's probably why no one responds to my discusions anymore. Sorry friends,I didn't mean it. It's been a really heartfelt, cray election. And when Hillary didn't make it,well that was it for me!

Hi friend, in one of my response in friends discussion. I terribly made a mistake. I pointed out some of shortcoming of some people. I typed ' i ' for instead of ' they '. Then i realized i went back to discussion and ask pardon and told about i made that

I have actually used this method purposely in the past. When I have a strong negative emotion about something or someone, whether it's anger or sadness or frustration I sit down an put my thoughts into words on paper or nowadays in the computer. Sometimes just writing out how you feel is an amazing way to purge bad emotions. Then when you're done you rip up the paper or delete the computer document. You may think that not sending the person your thoughts totally negates the process but it's actually not so. When you write things down you get the thoughts and feelings out of your head. Actually this takes conscious thought NOT to send, but that's what I thought of when I read your post.

If only I could type before I think! I would be typing like 1,000 wpm. my problem is that I have a trillion ideas and thoughts going thru my brain, and I can't type or write fast enough. I have an illness that has robbed me of my ability to speak, and i have to communicate by writing on a board, or typing out on a text-to-speech machine. It's so frustrating because I can't get anything out fast enough!!

I have done so when I am very upset. I mean to say something but it winds up as something different and then I have to explain it all over. And then I forget to add the not, or add the not when I am not supposed to. Then I have to write a comment after that it was not that I meant. An example was when I said I believe in abortion after a discussion on the couples looking for babies and how they felt so sad when they could not get on, when I meant to write I do not believe in abortion. Of course if they read that post, they would have known, but I had to write a comment to clarify things.
