With great prictice I have made myself quite comfirtable in reading books on computer screen. But I know some time back, it was highly irritating for me to make long readings on computer screen, so I used to take print outs and reads. Those printouts were quite comfirtale. I can take a few pages anywhere with me, read them in any position and reading them was good for eyes also them computer. Also I get develop head ache while reading on computers.
What about you. What do you prefer.

I prefer to read books normally, but if the book is an ebook, I will read it on the screen. I do not like the idea of printing it out because I have a printer where the cartridge is very small, and if I do print out the book, I would prefer that it is bound like a regular book and I do not have a binding machine. If it is an instructional book, I will print them out and put them in a binder.
But if it is a fiction book, I prefer to get it at a bookstore.

In the first hours of my computing there is no problem about reading long texts from my computer. However if you do that for too long and especially if you are using a CRT monitor then your eyes will tire quickly and that also causes headache time to time.
In those cases I feel very hard for myself. I feel dizzy whole day and I feel the need of closing and resting my eyes. So, printing out long texts before reading is really important for your eyes.
If you don't know the principle of CRT monitors then you might feel shocked when you learn how our eyes stand againist it. It is sending electrons whole day into our eyes and this is the way we are seeing from a crt monitor. If you are using a LCD one then there won't be so much problem. It will be easier to read from your computer if you are using LCD.
but still, printing out is the most practical. You don't have to keep your pc running if you have a print out of the document. In addition, you can read anywhere. You won't have to be in front of computer but you can read while you are travelling, or while doing some other things.
Buying a laptop is also a practical way but still not as good as a printout. because I wouldn't like to risk my laptop while reading something on it when travelling.

Reading on the computer is such a godsend to me, because I have been disabled for 4.5 years and the hands don't hold a book or turn a page so well anymore.

hi ajayrekha!
i'm okay with reading e-books in the computer. i actually read some of Dan Brown's novels in e-book form. but i didn't have enough time to stay on the computer to read e-books. i had to print some of my e-books so i can read them anywhere without staying in front of the computer. i actually printed some of my Harry Potter e-books. and it definitely took a lot of bond papers even if i printed on both sides and made the font smaller. i am not reading any e-books right now because whenever i sit in front of the computer, i just surf the net. i just buy second hand books now so i can still continue my reading hobby.

i prefer print outs to read rather than computers.because long time using computers may be harmful to our eyes and it may lesd to many diseases.there is no portability in using computers.using printouts we can easily carry out to where ever we want and have work completed

well, if the book is interesting to me i would prefer to reading the print-outs. otherwise, would rather on computer screen. for an interesting one, i would like to read it slowly and enjoy every part, or even read it for a few times. and also i would keep the interesting book forever by myself.

I prefer to read a book or papers off the screen. I find that my eyes get more tired when i try to read on the computer...and that my attention wanders faster. A book I can take and curl up on hammock or read in a car and they are so much more convenient to read.

I like audiobible.com. I can hear it while I read. This helps me retain it better. I wish there were other books that I could do the same.
As far as just reading, I rather read on the computer. With me having narcolepsy, it helps me to stay awake.

I would prefer reading print-outs rather than reading through the computer. It is more comfortable than staying in one position, sitting. Plus, no headaches will occur when your using print-outs even if your reading if for hours.

As a translator, editor and proofreader, I got so used to reading long stuffs on the computer screen but there are times that doing such can be absolutely tiring. Reading directly on the computer screen tends to make us suffer from headaches, as you've mentioned, and backaches.
Yes, working for long hours in front of the computer gives me terrible headaches and backaches from time to time. Naturally, it can affect the progress as well as the quality of my work -- which I can't afford most especially when trying to beat a deadline. Thus, at times, I'd rather indulge myself the liberty of printing out even hundred-page documents so that I can work more comfortably. It then allows me to work right on my bed, lying on my back or lying with my face down; sprawling on the hammock under the tree in the garden, or anywhere else that pleases me. Nowadays, I prefer working on printouts when doing editing or proofreading. I just manually put annotations on the documents and later on, apply them on the on-screen document so work becomes a lot faster and easier.
It's a good thing that I no longer have to spend so much on inks as I have already installed continuous ink system to my printer. Otherwise, it will surely be too much of a burden considering the high costs of ink cartridges in the market. :-)

I prefer to print the text especially if the computer screen isn't suitable. After a short time, the eyes begin to tire.

Reading a physical book and an eBook, there have some differences, not only comfortability but also some money. A physical(prited) book is not available for free (I didn't found any piece anywhere, do you?). But lots of ebooks are freely available online on almost every subject on the earth. Of course we can read the printed books laying on bed or elsewhere with great relax. But when you hear that any person reading the same book on computer free of cost, I think you cann't concentrate on the book which you have bought with your hard earned money.

I personally could stay on the computer all day, everyday. I have, on several occasion, told friends, family, and even teachers that I would much rather read on the computer as opposed to grabbing a book. I could not for the life of me give you a reason as to why that is. I guess I'm just a little weird :-P
