Why do women feel that all males are alike?

While some women really don't think or feel like this, there are statements that arouse suspicion with the claim entirely. "All men are dogs", "All men are pigs", "All men... one thing", etc (all of which address your connundrum). For those that might already have slight rage tremors in the fingertips, I'll inform you of something, these statements aren't just common statements in casual situations, these statements have all appeared on mylot as discussions, responses and tags. So why is it like this? Well one possibility is that its all done in jesting. The only qualm I have with this is that if the genders were reversed the "jesting" wouldn't be taken as that at all. Another possibility, its a rehearsed self-belief taken from personal experience, self-imposed expectations, societal "thinking", influence from friends and family or a combination of all of these. For some, "all males are..." doesn't literally mean all but means most, or most/all they've encountered. In this line of thinking the result is understandable as everyone has different lives, events, experiences. People develop thoughts, ideas and beliefs based on their reactions to said events. A third possibility, its a defense or reminder. Despite what is really happening, a woman has no idea what a man's true intentions are. That person approaching her could want a friendship or simply to make small talk, other times the person may have something different in mind. Do not mistake me as I do not mean to completely excuse any of this, these are just opinions and views drawn from observation. Sometimes gross assumptions like "All men are..." or "All women are..." can be completely ignorant, other times it can be very hurtful and shallow.

In fact most of the men are alike, because they are men...LOL! You see everyone (man) has many common traits amongst them, so to women they look alike. Men with uncommon traits are not welcomed by every woman. Similarly, women are also alike, their thinking pattern and mind set is on the same footing about men. Some of their notions about men are inherent and some of them they gather while getting younger and grown up and some of the notions get firmly fixed up in their minds, which do not change, even if they find a 'different' man.
