When the goal is survival, it's not hard to figure out what to do next. Most people know what to do when tough times hit. We are now experiencing fuel crisis which has burdened our pocket, money has suddenly become tight. What choice have we got but to network like crazy, make a pot of coffee and surf the net through the wee hours. I have started to ration my budget for groceries and other necessities. I no longer indulge in my passion for baking and cooking. No longer able to go for holidays. Those have to be sidelined at the moment as I don't see a change of wind in the world economic situation coming sooner. What have you got in store to ease your burden at this tough time?

We are experiencing a fuel crisis too.Every week, the fuel prices are going higher.I pray that things will get better for our country because that's the least that I can do for my country and I also patronize local products to help our economy.

I know what you mean about the gas prices. I have to plan every trip that I go on in the car. It seems that almost my whole paycheck went to gas. I do not know what I would do without WIC or public assistance. I have been trying to cut back on my food. I try to buy healthier food to save ojn money. For small things I walk to my local store. I try not to drive if I do not have to.

I am from Nepal. Our country is already going through a tough time of transition where the maoist rebels have now joined the government and turned nepal into a democratic republic of Nepal. And during this time fuel crisis has hit a lot. There is a few kilometers of line in every petrol pump situated in kathmandu valley. People are taking leave from job to get their vehicles fueled because in an average 4-5 hours are required for a person to get fuel in a petrol pump. So from this scenario you can imagine how hard fuel crisis has hit Nepal. 50% of people that get in that line dont know whether they are going to get fuel or not. I personally ride a motorbike and its really hard for me to get it on teh streets with such little fuel supply. Taking public transportation is an easier option but again transportation cost have incresed rapidly over the few months. In a poor country like mine its really tough when basic necessities are not available but still all of us are holding strong, always smiling and accepting the fact and the most important thing is having faith and keeping hope.

I have seen on tv about your country. But news broadcast is always fabricated and now it seems to be true that your country is in turmoil. Presently our government is subsidizing the petrol but it is still expensive. The ordinary folks like us really suffer.

Yes it is really hard for anyone when tough time comes especially the rise in the price of the nessecity commodities. It becomes a realburden for middle class people ann the other people such as truck and taxy drivers. These people rise the price of hiring their vehicles ang hence the burden again goes on common people. The government should think over these things before they rise the prices.

I dont see any changes in the economics of our given situation as a country or even as a world. Fuel costs will go higher which will affect everything else in turn. I have made several changes like scrapping my van for a little car (that was very smart) and doing less driving. Making money online is an easy thing to do but very time consuming. I got a very large freezer and have been make the most of it with my food budget. I think we are all thinking thinner and moving with more caution these days.

Hi There,
I agree with you that we are cetainly going through some hard times. I also agree with you about the fact that I really do not see an end in sight. I am basically trying to budget my money much closer now. I am also looking for a second job that I can do part time. I figure that should really help ends meet. The problem with that though is it will cut into the time I spend with my loved ones. Tough times indeed. :(
cheers,

Just this morning I was mentally working out how I would survive for the next however long until I get in more money.
Well, its an old experience for me. Buy less at a time, buy cheaper, or as cheaply as possible without sacrificing quality, drink less and spend more time in places where I don't spend money.
This kind of thing has always been with me so I am really accustomed to it.
We are entering into harder and harder times everywhere and I am sorry you have to cut back on baking.
I do love well baked bread.
That's not so easy to find here in Trinidad.
Quality has suffered in our part of the world.
