I've seen a few members have added themselves into interests...I have just done so as well. . Do you think it's terribly conceited of people to do this? I thought it was quite conceited of folk to do so but then I thought - maybe they are just being cheeky. In my case it's being cheeky.
Is it wrong to have a high opinion of oneself...or is it healthy? I'm curious as to how others see this.

You know you are being conceited because you are a terrible ego maniac.. and don't think that no one knows it. LOL I am just kidding with you sweets.. I think it's ok to have a high opinion of oneself, but I do get annoyed when people get TOO full of themselves though.

Oh rats! you've seen straight through me. I didn't really think anyone would call me on it...lol. I don't really have a good opinion of myself. I just wanted to see what it was like. It was worth a laugh and everyone is being very cool about it. That surprises and humbles me. For all the shy, retiring types though, there will always be those obnoxious, over the top types...it's all in the balance I guess.

I forget who exactly started this trend, but I actually thought it was just plain fun, and yes, maybe a tad cheeky. I started my own "interest" out of pure fun and heck just plain didn't want to be left out. I'll join your interest

Jesus taught that you should love thyself so that you could
then love others, and I think we should love ourselves so we
can give love to our family and friends, not conceited just
practical for inorder to love others you have to love yourself, it is akin to self respect and we all need that.It is healthy to think well of oneself not to the extent of conceit but a healthy
self respect. what keeps you from doing things you know you should not as if you respect you then you well also respect
others.

Hi Ms Tickle! I think it is alright and cool and amusing! haha.. I have known two of those people who have done it and I really find nothing wrong about it. They have always been nice people and I really like them. I never see it as thinking highly of oneself..I think they did it for fun.
Take care and God bless!

Well maybe, MsT. I don't think its that big a deal. And its not just self adding here, some people that got their names added due to friends. After the add, they'd immediately come up with discussions for them. In that case I find it a form of flattery.

Depends. if people over-do it, it can be unhealthy.
I myself have an ego, but I usually keep it for humor.
Because everyone loves a good laugh.
Even the most stuck-up person in the world will agree with me on this.
Haha!
No, seriously.
Who doesn't love to laugh?

*sigh* typical of this place! Of course it should be others that add me to people they admire.... it means nothing if you add it yourself!

If i had walked in your shoes I would be a transvestite with sore feet - then maybe I could finally admire myself?

Actually, most of these people did not add themselves into the interest categories. Quite a few of them were started by their good friends, some out for the fun of it, & others, under protest of unjustified bannings/suspensions of certain members. TerryZ's was started when she could not start or reply to discussions. At the time, she was unable to do anything when the TerryZ interest was started, so it was started by someone else. I was the one who started the sndcain interest. Like it was said in a previous response, katesmama started interest groups for other members here, & someone actually started hers (I think it was wootitsmolly who did that one).
Anyway, we do have lots of fun with those that are still here. Lots of laughing, teasing, jabs, even parties.

UhOh...now I feel like a misfit for starting my own.
I noticed sndcain is back. I was just getting to "know" her and about to befriend her when she was gone. It's now back to square one.
I hope to join in some of the fun and parties you mentioned...haven't seen any of that....

I think its hilarious actually and considered adding myself into interests..LOL In fact I still might dang nab it! Cause according to my husband, children, therapist, doctor and numerous other ppl I'M PRETTY FREAKIN INTERESTING though the word "unique" is more commonly used LOL

Yep, I'll go along with that...you are a unit. There are many facets to you and you have a very strong personality, a force. I'm sure those that know you either love or hate you. I'm surprised you have a therapist actually. I'll bet he'/she's the one getting the therapy...lol. Go ahead, I'll join. Has mine come up yet as "Add this interest?"

Hi Doll
I think it is a good idea to know your worth
but to also know your limits too.
I really don't feel bothered one way or another
about making yourself an interest. I just haven't
wanted or needed to but if at sometime it seemed fitting
I also would do so.

There's nothing wrong with having good self-esteem or a good sense of humor. Having said that I would like to look for the good intent and maybe think that these folks either enjoy being who they are, or are just being cute. I think it's all in good fun afterall!

Hey, I fill good about myself too. If you don't, will any one
else? Maybe when I'm at 5000, I'll add an interest of
myself. Unless someone else does it first.
I'd say you earned it, and you should be
Tickled Pink.

What does it mean to add yourself into an interest?? I'm not sure what you mean or how to do it.
