I live in Shanghai, a beautiful city in eastern China. The flag-fall price of taxi here is 11RMB (about 1.6 dollar) within 3 kilometers. If your tenor exceeds 3 kilometers, the price will be 2.1RMB (about 0.3 dollar) per kilometer. Also there's a 30 percent extra service charge after 23:00.

I have only been in a taxi and that was in Vegas almost ten years ago and a friend took care of it. There are very little taxis where I live and there is very little need for it since pretty much everyone drives. Nearer to the city center and the mall there are buses but I never have a need for them either. It sure is nice to know you can hire a ride where you are though!

Hello ifglan, I live in the Philippines and taxi flag is 25 Philippine pesos (PHP. That's is about 0.55 US dollar. PHP exchange rate to a dollar is now at 45 pesos. With the increasing price of petrol this might change. Most taxi driver don't want to increase the flag down, what they want is to increase the amount every meter. This way the passenger won't hesitate to ride in a taxi. It's cheap for foreigner who have dollar to spend, but it's quite expensive for us local with peso to spend.

Hey there! Well, it's 35 pesos here in the capital. Very expensive. I could just have rode 4 jeepneys instead but on a taxi, I just sat and bam! P35 flag down! Transportation fares may very well increase in the next few weeks/months. In fact, starting today, 7/9/08, jeepney fares will increase to 8.50 pesos. I'm not sure if there are news whether taxi fares will go up. If it doesn't, I probably won't be riding taxis in a very long while. It's convenient but with the salary and extreme cost of living, I'd just have to suck it up and sacrifice. Take care!

I think it is 1,20 euros here, but i am not really sure since i havent been in a taxi for long. They are striking these days for higher flag-fall price due to increasing price of gas, I guess they will achieve their target and it will be more expensive soon.

Here in the southern part of the country, taxi flag-down rate is 30 pesos. Additional is 2.50. While is the capital, I guess their flag-down rate is 35 or 40, I am not sure...
